Inky #1 Posted February 25, 2002 Does anyone know where I can download a copy of the great ST game Oids? I owned it back in the day, and although I was never really good at it, it was quite the fun challenge..
Albert #2 Posted February 25, 2002 Ohmigod, I completely forgot about Oids!!! I used to play this game to death! Now I want to play it again! I just spent some time looking for Atari ST disk images, but they don't seem to be very easy to locate. I haven't really tried to hunt down ST images before, though, so I'm probably not looking in the right place. Hopefully someone can point us in the right direction. ..Al
+Marc Oberhäuser #3 Posted February 25, 2002 Yeah, OIDS was really a blast. My friends and me had played this game like crazy. Another great release by Faster Than Light. Sad thing that they went under. Marc PS: The game had a hell of a copy protection.
Atari-Jess #4 Posted February 25, 2002 SEARCH NO LONGER! http://atari.st has Oids! if you have an FTP program such as cuteFTP your in luck (if not get it now!) just connect to their servers, look at the text files for what ST image disk has oids on it then search for your ST disk! and if it doesn't have it, which im pretty sure they do cause i just checked, sorry for the mistake but like i said, im pretty sure they do have it. Inky #6 Posted February 26, 2002 Main screen says FTP servers are down...
Albert #7 Posted February 26, 2002 Assuming I can get into one of these FTP servers, and also assuming that we ship off Deus Ex to Sony tomorrow, I think I may spend some time playing OIDS. Nothing like emulating an Atari ST full-screen on your laptop! It's like having a modern day version of the STacy! ..Al
Atari-Jess #8 Posted February 26, 2002 except its more like a ST book as it actually looks like one (a modern laptop) and doesn't weigh 15 pounds.
Clint Thompson #9 Posted February 26, 2002 I couldn't connect to the ftp server on atari.st either(that was like 2 weeks ago) dunno, maybe I"m not logging in right or something. anyhow, I have a Falcon and I don't have any 720k disks to write the images to disk (as it wont write to a 1.44mb) at least, not that I have found. Anyone have any ideas? or should I just shell out $25 for like 50 DD disks on eBay? Thanks, Clint Thompson

+rdemming #11 Posted March 1, 2002 You should also checkout Utopos. It's a two player combat game in the style of Oids for STE and Falcon. You can find it here: Utopos can be found here Robert [ 03-01-2002: Message edited by: Robert ]

+Sauron #13 Posted April 15, 2002 Oids 2.0 is now available for the Mac for those of you who have Macs. From what I've read, it's pretty much the same game except with extra galaxies added. Oids 2.0 for Mac review
