ATARI PCF 554 Computer Disk Drive

Hello STers!

 

I recently saw something I'd never seen before, on eBay. It says it's the Atari PCF554 disk drive.

It looks kinda like the XF551 drive, from what I can see in the pic. It's not a good shot of the drive, as it's upside down and in the styrofoam.

 

The seller knows nothing about it, so I went to the Atari Historical Society to research it. There's nothing at all. The section for ST drives is not "clickable," so I'm at a bit of a loss. This is the site I usually get my info from.

 

I can surmise that it's a 5 1/4" drive, made for the Atari PC system, but I can't find any specific info on it.

Yes, it's for the Atari PC-x line of systems. As far as I know it's a 360K DS/DD floppy, pretty much the same as the XF551, except designed for the Atari PC line.

 

Don't know much else about it.

The eBay auction sold for around $30. 8 people, 17 bids. I find that interesting. I mean really, how many people do you suppose STILL have and use their Atari PC-x system?!
