I watched her carefully as she put her pieces across, move by move, giving about 10 seconds of thought

before countering my latest offenses... Her glassy stare neither comforted nor intimidated me as the

midgame stretched out into the end game.

 

Things were going very well for me this time and I knew she was struggling to find a way to deflect me.

After countless assault and clever trickery I whittled her down the six pawns and a queen. She looked

cool and calm, still unaffected by my relentless efforts to crush her.

 

I myself was down to my own queen and only five pawns, but with the added assistance of a trusty bishop

and a loyal rook I felt confident that the end game would result in success. And wouldn't you know it,

The scent of victory filled the air... One move, two moves, checkmate! I stared at her in disbelief, It was over.

 

 

...the rival wins again...

I will never forget the first time i beat stella at chess. it took a lot of work. she plays a mean game, imho. still amazingly impressive. heck the oddysey 2 required an entire second computer in a giant box-out just to be able to play chess.

Has anyone ever seen the game cheat? Or is it an urban myth?

 

If it's true, I *love* that, and it implies that the 2600 was more human than many computers that came after.

Yes, I have once. An illegal pawn move as I recall. I'm amazed how tough the game is given the system's limitations.

Back when I was considered a "new" member (in the first year of the modern site) Some of my first flash cartoons

were animations based upon me as the Berzerk guy, and the Robots despite the fact that they were genderless

had an affinity for touching my "ass" for apparently no good reason.

 

It's been referenced about here and there and occasionally I make something new regarding it.

 

I've even reproduced Berzerk as a flash game.

 

 

Now that my flash skills are considerably more advanced, I may just make another cartoon...

Sounds great to me. I lurked for years on and off until a couple of years back when I started actually posting. I must have missed those cartoons. You ought to post 'em again. If they are anywhere near as funny as the Pitfall Hairy ones, we'll laugh our collective asses off, I'm sure.
