pocketmego #1 Posted August 10, 2006 I just got my first order from Atari Age in and amongst the stuff I ordered was Hunchy 2. It is my first Himebrew cartridge and it is AWESOME. No doubt all of you here have already played it, but i couldn't NOT mention how addictive and fun this game is. It really puts a lot of the vintage 2600 platformers to shame. Its smooth, looks great, has zero or no flicker and the game play just draws you right in. Plus the level designs and puzzle elements border on sheer briliance. This is HIGH QUALITY and an excellent first modern game for my collection. Think of games like Manic Miner, Miner 2049er, or even Donkey Kong... Then play this and see a game that is better than all of those. Great GAME!! -Ray
jboypacman #2 Posted August 10, 2006 Hunchy 2 was one of my first homebrews i ordered from AtariAge.Like you its turned into one of my favorite games.Great platformer that puts Donkey Kong and others to shame on the 2600.
dwh #3 Posted August 11, 2006 I have only gotten to level 10 once, very briefly, then the guard chased me down;did not have enough time to look at the layout and figure out a way around him. Oh yeah,BTY, the game does kick ass!
StanJr #4 Posted August 11, 2006 yeah, its awesome. One of the strongest showings on the homebrew market. A puzzle/action game that guarantees to challenge and draw you in. A winner for sure.
pocketmego #5 Posted August 11, 2006 Now does anyone know how this game compares to the Hunchy that was released on the 2005 Mini-Multipack? -Ray

pocketmego #7 Posted August 11, 2006 That and Caverns of Mars are my next pickups. Both look great and have great reviews I can't stop playing it. I haven't been this addicted to a new Atari game since I was a kid. In fact it is a game that really makes me feel like a kid again. This is exactly the kind of Neo-Classic gaming experience I was seeking when I sought out this site. I am so glad I found Atari Age and all of you great people. -Ray

cd-w #10 Posted August 11, 2006 Thanks for the kind words about Hunchy II - it is always gratifying to hear that people are enjoying my games! There are a few aspects of Hunchy 2 that could be improved (e.g. the annoying sound effects and scoring mechanism), so perhaps I will write a Hunchy III someday. vdub_bobby #11 Posted August 11, 2006 Now does anyone know how this game compares to the Hunchy that was released on the 2005 Mini-Multipack? -Ray They were both written by the same guy; Hunchy is based on the arcade game Hunchback. It is similar but much simpler; it was an entry in the 1K minigame contest! Lots of fun.

Chris Hey Chris, You can put me down as a buyer for Hunchy 3 right now. But seriously, I had no problem with the sound effects, it reminded me a lot of Manic Miner, which is by no means a bad thing. I'll say this much you have a real talent for programming on the 2600, had this been made in the 80's, I do believe it wold have been one of the LEGENDARY Atari titles like Yars Revenge and Pitfall. And I don't say such things lightly. -Ray
yuppicide #13 Posted August 11, 2006 I've only tried it via emulator and loved it, but the one level where the arrow comes at you and you gotta jump on the rope.. I dunno it was very close to the end, I could never pass it and it pissed me off.

I dunno it was very close to the end, I could never pass it and it pissed me off. Which means its is an exact replica of the arcade game. Or, At least the C64 version of the arcade game, because I was just playing that last night and was about to pull my hair out on that scene, if it hadn't been for a trainer mode... -Ray
Big Player #15 Posted August 12, 2006 Hunchy II is a great game. I should know, I wrote the first review of the game in the AA store. Now six months later the game still holds up. It's very challenging, I've only made it to level 9 a few times. But it is as addicting as ever. Hunchy II is my favorite 2600 platformer. Buy it now. Big Player #16 Posted August 13, 2006 I made it to level 10 today for the first time. I can now see why more Hunchy II might be unfamilar to most people here. The ROM is not in the AA database. You can download it from this thread in post #91. http://www.atariage.com/forums/index.php?s...72308&st=
sandmountainslim #17 Posted September 9, 2007 Good reviews and I like platformers so I just ordered this game for myself as a birthday present I will tell my opinion of it when it comes in the mail. I will wager that I will not be disappointed. WP

sandmountainslim #24 Posted September 12, 2007 You fellers really have me lookin forward to this game! It must be somethin if it is indeed better than Kangaroo AND Popeye. I should get it in a day or two as Alberto shipped it today. The mail route between Ohio and Alabam is like lightning! Much faster than when AA was headquartered in Tejas.
