Rik #1 Posted August 11, 2006 (edited) I saw a modified 6-switch ,2600 at the thrift shop today. It had a blue interface coming out on the lower left side, just above the woodgrain strip, and had "textool" printed on it,and there was a toggle switch installed on the bottom of console. The interface is about 1.5 inches long and has about 20 pin holes on each side that looks like a chip or something plugs into it,i didnt buy it,as i no longer have room for consoles anymore.Anyone know what this mod is? Lord Thag #4 Posted August 11, 2006 What they used to use to develop Atari games. I believe (someone correct me if I'm wrong) you would flash an internal eeprom from the development station to test out your game. Pretty neat piece of history. I'd snag it if I were you

+RandomPerson #6 Posted August 11, 2006 Who wants to bet we see one on Ebay within a month cause its gone already? I don't doubt it one bit. The damn thing is worth a small fortune.
keilbaca #7 Posted August 11, 2006 My recommendation is to go back and get it ASAP before it disappears. Its probably already gone already though... but go check anyways.
jboypacman #8 Posted August 11, 2006 You need to go back a pick that up.That unit most likely worth a few dollars. And from a collectors stand point a great item to have in your collection.
Rik #9 Posted August 11, 2006 (edited) Who wants to bet we see one on Ebay within a month cause its gone already? Yep,i went back this morning and it was GONE.It will end up on ebay,or,possibly another AA member will post it as a "thrift shop find" Edited August 11, 2006 by Rik
CPUWIZ #10 Posted August 11, 2006 It's not a development unit, it's simply just a ZIF socket wired to the cartridge port. Not that difficult to do.

Lord Thag #12 Posted August 12, 2006 Is the DEV UNIT worth a fortune like everyone seems to say it is? If it's rare and Atari, it's worth money, you bet. There were not many of the dev kits made, as they were not a commercial product, and used for in house development.
