I want to know "everything" I can, can you help me out?

Recommended Posts

I would like to know all the general things to know about the Atari 2600. I own a vader so maybe things about that would be cool, but the 2600 in general would be cool. I know this is odd but I want to really start getting into Atari and would like to know all the cool facts!! Thanks in advance for your help!! :D :ponder:

If you want to get into the history of Atari, of course your in the right place, but you should also check www.atarimuseum.com they are loaded with Atari corporation documents.

Yep, lurk for a while. I've been lurking for about 4 months now and there's nothing like being party to active conversation on dead systems :) (no offense guys lol I know homebrewing is very much alive) The atmosphere here is like what you'd get at any classic games convention...just every day of every week. Look at old posts, just keep reading like a book, further and further back.

The 2600 is a video gaming machine that was released in 1977.

I hope this information helps. :D

Serious now, you will notice some people here who are able to answer any question or solve any problem with the 2600. Look around, yes, but also get an emulator or a multicart and play as many different games as you can. Join the High Score Club and try to master another game each week. Learning each game's differences will show you how much the 2600 evolved before even your Vader was made.

We've run the gamut of games in the HSC. The oldest I recall off the top of my head was Space Invaders, the newest (off the top of my head) was Ultra SCSIcide. Want to push the hardware? the HSC has done that, too, in games like Rabbit Transit. I think they may have done Solaris, too. Jr Pac Man has been on there, and that's a far cry from the original VCS Pac Man.

Another great way to learn a lot is to pick up the Digipress Retro guide. It has lots of info on all kinds of good stuff. A great place to start.
