Inky #1 Posted August 13, 2006 Didn't realize that you could download game demos forthe DS @ target stores until I saw thier most recent circular, so I went in, and lo and behold... It didn't work. Found out that the DS they have setup with the demos wasn't turned on yet (Hey, it was 8 AM). I then was able to select 1 of 6 different demo downloads. Don't remember which one it was, but since it had Sudoku in it, I figured the wife would be interested. Don't remember the whole lineup, but it also had Mario Kart and a golf game amongst the titles. Pretty sweet!

Pretty sweet! The demos are nice - but just remember that once you turn your DS off, the demos disappear. (at least that's what happened to me when I downloaded them!) Room 34 #3 Posted August 13, 2006 The fact that they can't be stored in any way after the system has been powered off is a big disappointment to me. Makes this seem like a really lame gimmick rather than an actually cool feature. Especially since they generally only have demos for about 4 or 5 games available, and they're generally either games I already have, or games I would never even consider buying. I mean common, its a demo, its meant for you to play the one short level to get you interested to buy the game... if your not interested enough to buy the game why would you play the demo? If you ARE interested enough, you would buy the game in the target store thus not needing the demo either. Rememeber the whole demo thing was just for players to exchange the demo to other players. This in store free demo dload is a nice little after thought. Is it a free game? no, but then again its not meant to be.. just be happy you got something for free. The good news is that you can make it home without that batt dieing on you unlike some handhelds
Lord Helmet #5 Posted August 14, 2006 I play the Tru Swing Golf demo when I'm waiting in line at the movies at the mall. There is a Gamestop right outside the theater in the food court. The signal reaches all through the food court and into the lobby area of the movie theater.
Gregory DG #6 Posted August 14, 2006 I'd rather just play the demo unit's game than bring in my DS and have a bunch of people stare at me wondering what I'm doing... Plus all it takes is one little kid to see you playing with a DS and he'll be all over you.
Room 34 #7 Posted August 14, 2006 Yeah, I don't really like the idea of bringing my DS into a store. I guess I had it too ingrained in my head from a young age that you NEVER bring personal posessions into a store, lest they think you're stealing them (especially when it's something that they actually sell in the store). I mean, my lite is in a case with a game with a save on it with my name imbedded in the system. I doubt they could argue that my ds is theirs... (oh and has screen protectors on there that are gamestop brand...)
