pocketmego #26 Posted August 17, 2006 The Pac-land cartoon was the best! I 've heard it called that once before by UK members. Did they call it Pac-Land there? If so I wonder why? -Ray

No, the cartoon was called "Pac-Man" here. The theme song from Pac-Land is used for the intro, though.
Godzilla #30 Posted August 17, 2006 so did the pac land game come from the cartoon or did the cartoon come from the pac land game?
pocketmego #31 Posted August 17, 2006 so did the pac land game come from the cartoon or did the cartoon come from the pac land game? To my knowledge the Pac-Land game came from the cartoon. That is why he is wearing his litle hat. -Ray
+kisrael #32 Posted August 17, 2006 Yeah, it would be pretty unusual for a game to add that much specific detail that the cartoon would then crib from; the reverse seems much more likely. That Pacman cartoon had some very good voice work.

That is why he is wearing his litle hat. -Ray Pac-Man had a different hat in the Japanese version of Pac-Land. He looked more like some of the Japanese artwork for Pac-Man and has a big nose. Oddly enough, some US home versions of Pac-Land actually use Namco's Pac-Man design instead of the design like the Pac-Man cartoon. The ghost design actually remains the same in the Japanese version. TG-16 Version, which has the Japanese character design, despite being a US home version: http://www.mobygames.com/game/turbo-grafx/...and/screenshots That Pacman cartoon had some very good voice work. I agree. I especially like Pac-Baby's voice. I miss that cartoon. Edited August 18, 2006 by BrianC
+kisrael #34 Posted August 18, 2006 The Wikipedia article points out that Pac-Land predates SMB by a year... I suppose that gives fuel to the "Miyamoto is over-rated" camp. I think in some ways it's hampered by it's large and cartoony but probably less flexible graphics.

It looks like the Amstrad CPC version sans color. I prefer SMB over Pac-Land, but I like both games quite a bit. I love the music for the Pac-Land game/Pac-Man cartoon intro. the 5th ghost #37 Posted August 19, 2006 Pole Position cartoon? I'll stick with Speed Racer anyday Speaking of Speed Racer, wasn't that the first cartoon to use computers in its animation process?
BrianC #38 Posted August 19, 2006 (edited) Here ypu go... 1 full episode of Pac-Man divided into two parts... I doubt linking to full epiodes is allowed, but thanks. Oddly enough, this may have been this first time I have seen this particular epsiode. I don't remeber seeing an episode where Pac-Man (or Ms. Pac-Man for that matter) became Super. In fact, I usually assumed that Pac-Man never became super in the series since there is a seperate Super Pac-Man character in it. The episode reminded me of why I liked the show, though. I especially liked that one part with the parody of the famous "It's a bird, it's a plane, it's Superman" saying. "It's a kite, it's a blimp, it's Smog!"
