2600lover #1 Posted August 15, 2006 I have it all over my Spider Fighter. Did anyone come up with a way t get rid of it? Here is a pic from AA, but mine looks identical to that one. http://www.atariage.com/common/glossary/gl...actiplaque.html
+Psionic #2 Posted August 15, 2006 I wish. Not a chance. I believe your only option is to remove the old label and reapply a new (reproduction) label.
A.J. Franzman #3 Posted August 15, 2006 (edited) Wait! Someone did come up with a way, using a couple of products made for stamp collectors. They're a bit on the expensive side, but the results are amazing. Thread: Found a Spider Maze on Ebay Mfr. Website: Lindner-USA.com: ERNI Stamp Care Products Look at products 8070 & 8071 (2-part Mildew Stain Remover), 8072 (Stamp Gum Remover) and 8074 (information & instructions - free w/ purchase). Other stamp collecting product dealers also carry the Lindner products. Edited August 15, 2006 by A.J. Franzman
+Psionic #4 Posted August 15, 2006 Thanks A.J., interesting info. I assume you still have to remove the label completely and reapply after. I wouldn't mind seeing some before and after pics of an Actiplaqued cart label.

I wouldn't mind seeing some before and after pics of an Actiplaqued cart label. Apparently you didn't actually visit the thread that I linked; there are before, during, and after scans in post #3. It looks like the label is off the cart in the scans, so I assume that FND removed it or it was already off the cart. I Imagine best results would be obtained using the gum remover with the label off so all the adhesive can be removed from the back side. Edited August 15, 2006 by A.J. I was referring to an actual Activision cartridge. :!:

+remowilliams #9 Posted August 16, 2006 Must be something about Spider Fighter, because I have one like that as well. It's not just Spider Fighter. It's the cheap ass glue on the Activision labels. 'Acti' - plaque!
A.J. Franzman #10 Posted August 16, 2006 (edited) Actually, I did in fact visit the thread that you linked. I was referring to an actual Activision cartridge. :!: Well, why didn't you say so? AA members use the term "actiplaque" generically to refer to glue bleed-through mottling on any cartridge labels, not just Activision's. Activision is only responsible for the name because they have the distinction of being the most prolific publisher of such carts. Anyway, I think those Lindner products are a tad on the expensive side to use on any but the upper-level rarity carts. I would only use them on a common one as a practice run the very first time I used the stuff. Edited August 16, 2006 by A.J. Franzman

yuppicide #13 Posted August 16, 2006 Easiest way to get rid of Actiplaque is to get rid of all the games that have them.
FND #14 Posted August 16, 2006 Yes I did remove the label before cleaning, not that difficult With a hairdryer. BTW I have noticed one side effect with the cleaners, the label now Has an air freshener type smell that has not gone away, its been a couple years now since it was done
