rheffera #1 Posted August 17, 2006 Im a australian citizen, and recently bought some stuff using the search function of a game selling chain ( You would be surprised some of the rare stuff that hides in there) Bought a silver label Airlock (game world) for $5 au. Rarity 7 too. http://www.retroreview.com/paldatabase/Sea...amp;SortBy=name any way my question is i also picked up a black label commando raid (us games). This Version of the game was NTSC only, and i know it is common in the states, but i picked it up in PAL australia. Is it hard to find NTSC games here in general? Spirantho #2 Posted August 17, 2006 That's a nice score - getting the Game World games is not easy at all, certainly over here in the UK. As for the Commando Raid - no idea what that was doing over there! Can you just check that it is NTSC (the colours should be wrong compared to the screenshot on AtariAge) please? You never know - maybe US Games did some PAL games (unlikely!)
Rom Hunter #3 Posted August 17, 2006 Carrere Video released the PAL version of U.S. Games' Commando Raid: http://www.atarimania.com/detail_soft.php?...ERSION_ID=11730
rheffera #4 Posted August 17, 2006 (edited) nope, the one i have is definetly NTSC, the PAL one by Carrere Video is almost as rare as gameworld games as it shows up as black and white only, as you will read in my NTSC Woes a explination Edited August 17, 2006 by rheffera
dark-aleph #5 Posted August 18, 2006 Out of about 500 carts I've bought in Oz, maybe 5 or 6 have obviously been NTSC so I'm guessing they're fairly rare. Of course, I don't know what colour some games are supposed to be, so there could be more lurking unnoticed in my collection... In regards to Commando Raid, the even/odd scanlines suggestion from your other post seems to be right - running NTSC ROMs on a PAL 7800 from my Cuttle Cart 2 either results in wonky colours, B&W or continual B&W/wonkycolour switching. As far as Gameworld games go, all three of mine (Warplock, Encounter at L-5 and Bugs) output different colours to the AA screenshots. Atarimania says Gameworld only released these in PAL versions, so maybe they just didn't bother readjusting the colours in the conversion? I don't think they're NTSC because the NTSC Bugs ROM off my CC2 flickers between B&W and colour whereas the cart doesn't. If they were too lazy to change the colours, I'm certainly not complaining - everything seems to turn hot pink and I love it!
