2600lover #1 Posted August 18, 2006 Before I get there, I took apart my CX-40 last night and gave it a facelift. I took the white plastic joystick out and poped out the plastic boot, and cleaned all the crud out of there and put it back together and now it looks all pretty again!!! Anyway!!!!! I was looking through my little "1983 Atari Catalog- Your Ticket To The Atari Stars" this morning and saw something I've never seen, or seen talked about in this forum. Says here, "2600 Voice Commander- State of the art game play with voice activated controles!" Has anyone ever seen or heard of these? Has anyone ever used them? If so, how do they work? Vic George 2K3 #2 Posted August 18, 2006 The 2600 Voice Commander was spoken of in various gaming magazines of the early 1980s, but was never released. Most likely it was also never made.
2600lover #3 Posted August 18, 2006 Oh. Well thanks! It was in my little catalog so I thought I'd ask, seeing no one ever spoke about them. Now I know why!!
Foxsolo2000 #4 Posted August 18, 2006 I asked a similiar question last year. In short it was a lame idea that thankfully never came out for the Atari but it a version was released for the C-64 I believe
CPUWIZ #5 Posted August 18, 2006 Oh. Well thanks! It was in my little catalog so I thought I'd ask, seeing no one ever spoke about them. Now I know why!! I think it is lame that you stole Nathan's handdrawn avatar.
Inky #6 Posted August 18, 2006 IIRC, the Voice Commander was originally a Milton Bradley product that was to be produced for the TI
crunchysuperman #7 Posted August 18, 2006 I asked a similiar question last year. In short it was a lame idea that thankfully never came out for the Atari but it a version was released for the C-64 I believe Yup, it was bundled with Echelon from Access Software. Pretty useless really, as all it did was trigger the fire button with any sound input - didn't matter what kinda noise you made. I suspect the voice commander would have been similar. thomasholzer #8 Posted August 18, 2006 Here's my LipStik Plus, which in the UK, you had to purchase seperate, as it was not bundled with Echolon. Sorry bout the flash in the most important bit.
Godzilla #9 Posted August 18, 2006 iirc this thing works with anything and when u make sound it presses the fire button, basically. wow.
+Nathan Strum #10 Posted August 18, 2006 I think it is lame that you stole Nathan's handdrawn avatar. Well, I appreciate the fact that he likes it, but I would rather he came up with something else. I created this one for my own use.
