2600lover #1 Posted August 18, 2006 I took my dads old TI99/4A out of the box today in hopes of plugging it in and playing some of the games but I was missing some keys on the keyboard. Anyone have some extras? If so I will then let you know what ones are missing.
jaybird3rd #2 Posted August 18, 2006 Is it a black or beige keyboard?
SteveW #3 Posted August 18, 2006 I think I still have a spare keyboard for it. I bought it in the late 80s from Radio Shack. They were selling old TI-99/4A spare components for assorted tech projects. Picked up a couple beige ones for $5 each. It's got to be sitting in a box around here somewhere. Bruce Tomlin #4 Posted August 19, 2006 I think I still have a spare keyboard for it. I bought it in the late 80s from Radio Shack. I remember (and at one time bought) the 99/4A power supplies and 99/4A keyboards. They also had Adam keyboards for a while.
2600lover #5 Posted August 20, 2006 Its black!
jaybird3rd #6 Posted August 20, 2006 Its black!Okay, the reason I asked is that they come in black and beige, and I didn't want to send you the wrong color. I've got a black keyboard inside one of my spare-parts 99/4A consoles. Let me know which keys you need (or if you'd rather just have the whole keyboard to exchange with your old one), and I'll see what I can come up with. 2600lover #7 Posted August 20, 2006 Ok cool, if I take the whole keyboard how would I change it? (remember I just got this 2 days ago so I dont know to much about it) I think I'll just take the keys. I know I need the space and the function, and the right shift, and v, and g. I think thats it. But I will post back tomarrow and know for sure, but I think that all of them. SteveW #8 Posted August 21, 2006 Switching out the old keyboard and installing the new one isn't all that hard, if I remember right. It connects with a ribbon cable. My keyboards were beige. The Radio Shack where I bought them didn't have any black ones, just beige. I think I did buy a spare power supply from there.
2600lover #9 Posted August 21, 2006 Well, I wouldnt mind beige. But black would be better. I was looking last night and really dont see anyway to get that keyboard out. Maybe you could send me the board and I could pull them off key by key and replace it that way. Anyway, im missing v,g,space, right shift, and function.
