edweird13 #1 Posted August 27, 2006 Went to a local antique shop wanting to find some atari stuff and came across this. I doesnt have any games of the RF adapter but the power comes on for the computer, disk drive and printer. Maybe I could find somebody here to trade for a 7800 and some games. the computer and printer has the original price tag from Montgomery Ward's. C-64 sold for 229.23 printer was 249.99. 2600Lives #2 Posted August 28, 2006 Nice find. I love my Commodore and Vic-20. Helluva great system for games, and many times it could easily outdo anything the NES was putting out in it's heyday.
rockman_x_2002 #3 Posted August 28, 2006 Nice setup there. I've been searching for a replacement C64 User's Manual as well as the Programmer's Reference Guide, but I can't seem to track one down. At any rate, I'd personally keep the C64 and order an XM1541 cable (or equivalent) off eBay so you can download games and stuff. There's a lot of good titles for the C64. I'd say you have a better find anyway.

Classic Pac #5 Posted August 28, 2006 You want to trade that for a 7800? I keep it if I were you, some of those games for the C64 were amazing it is without a doubt the best gaming computer ever!!
edweird13 #6 Posted August 28, 2006 I already have a C-64 I just couldnt pass this one up. And I dont have any Atari systems now
christianscott27 #7 Posted August 29, 2006 The koala pad is a sweet find, as a rule there arent many old computer things I feel excited to find but thats an exception. I remember using on of those on ancient apples and it really seemed for a long time like the bleeding edge of high tech. I'd say keep at least that. 7800s are a pain in the butt, I swear the value of that console would drop by half if the frigging power supply wasnt one of a kind. marcfrick2112 #8 Posted August 29, 2006 Wow, nice find. Personally I wouldn't give up either my C-64 or C-128 systems for anything. On certain games, the C-64 absolutely blew away the NES....Ghostbusters anyone? @rockman_x_2002: Try www.oldsoftware.com for those manuals, they didn't have the programmer's guide when I last checked, but maybe you'll get lucky

But, the NES was cheaper and easier to use. Computers were still a novelty. If more people had been open to the C64 it would have clobbered the NES. The thing was going against the Genesis by 1990 with many of those games being made for it like Strider, Forgotten Worlds, and Eswat. I still love the C64 and play it (at least emulated every day). -Ray

Anyway, great find! I'd be totally stoked to find anything that nice in a local shop (even though I'm not a Commodore guy and would probably resell it). keilbaca #11 Posted August 29, 2006 I have a mint 7800 at home in PA... unfortunately I don't think I could get them to ship it to you, that's including two fully working joysticks and power supply. Sorry I couldn't help...
