most overrated video game problem

Recommended Posts

Here's one that I'm sure I'll take some shit for.

Every review I read about the Generation NEX had to mention that "games like Castlevania III" weren't compatible with the system. From all the reviews you would have thought that Castlevania III was the flagship game for the NES. Truth is, I have a couple hundred NES games and I've never even played Castlevania III. I could give a shit if Castlevania III works, works well, or even ever existed.

What's Castlevania III? Never heard of it in my life...

Truth be told, Castlevania as a series isn't all that. There are som good entries, but most of them are pretty mundane.

Reguardless of what one thinks of Castlevania III, it's not the only game that has problems with the NEX. Other games like Zelda 1 have problems with it too.

Castlevania III is known as one of the better entries in the series and has multiple paths, multiple endings, great level design, and multiple characters. The Japanese version, Akumajou Densetsu, is superior to the US one, though. As for the rest of the series, I found them to be quite good in general, though some are better than others. My impressions of Curse of Darkness were mixed, though.

One overrated problem that I found is that collections are often rated down becuase they are missing a game, despite how well the games are emulated or how many games are in a package. IMO, one missing game doesn't spoil the bunch when the games in the collection are excellent.
