Question for other Soul Calibur 3/Xenosaga players

Recommended Posts

Today I was checking out Xenosaga III, and noticed something which I first thought was just my imagination. Whenever characters would do their big special attacks, the screen would dim.

Then I was playing Soul Calibur III and noticed that everytime a grab move was performed, the screen also dimmed in that game. I've never noticed that before.

Recently, I've had some problems with the switchbox I have the PS2 hooked up to. Today was no exception as I had to readjust the cables to get sound. So, I'm wondering if this dimming is yet another indicator of my crappy switchbox, or if it's normal for the games?

First off what style ps2 do you have? Second, I've owned an old style ps2 with SC2 on it and never saw this problem. Third, we have a slim in our living room and my roomate plays SC3 and ZS3 on it all the time. I dont play them often, but I watch and I cant say ive ever noticed a problem at all. So its not the games. It could be your system, im not sure.. or your tv , but i honestly wouldnt know what would cause it. But i am 100% possitive its not your games.

I have an old style PS2. I visited a couple of buddies and they both have 2nd batch units (the ones that came out around March after the launch). The games do the same thing on those too. So, it's apparrently normal behaviour.

I don't know why I never noticed it on Soul Calibur III before. Just every time a character performs a grab, the screen dims a bit then goes back to normal brightness directly after the grab move finishes. For Xenosaga, it's the same thing, but only on special attacks.

Odd.
