Atari 2600 programming -- is it right for me?

Recommended Posts

I have become interested in learning to program fot the atari 2600, though after reading the vcs workshop im a little stunned, my head is swirling with thoughts, and a s a result im unable to think straight. and no im not tripping, i dont take drugs. :) I have many new game ideas, but i am wondering if i have had enough experience yet in programming to try my hand at TASM for 2600 or maybe even bB.

I have 4 years basic programming experience on commodore 64, and dabbled a little in its ASM by using a MONITOR! thats right, no macros! all i did was get it to display my name and use basic loops and memory storage to do it, nothing more.

Also i have had some experience with C, alougth not a lot. attached is a text file containg source, which is a very basic, and limited game. take a look at it if you care.

I know programming for the 2600 isnt easy.

Also, is there a bB tutorial somewhere?

I guess what im asking is, can somone with my level of experience program a 2600 game?
