pocketmego #1 Posted September 6, 2006 I am really surprised we never saw a Six Million Dollar Man for the 2600. The show was pretty big at the time, or are my dates off? Did Atari come out too late for the Bionic craze? -Ray
godzillajoe #2 Posted September 6, 2006 The show ran from 1974-1978 so it was already dying by the time the 2600 hit its peak
jetset #3 Posted September 6, 2006 The show ran from 1974-1978 so it was already dying by the time the 2600 hit its peak Ha! Like that ever stopped any companies from banging out a crappy title for the 2600! Besides there were spinoffs...I know there was at least the bionic woman...and there were a few TV made flicks in the mid-late 80's as well.
godzillajoe #4 Posted September 6, 2006 What would the premise be? Fembots and the Venus Probe! And of course Sasquatch!
jbanes #5 Posted September 6, 2006 What would the premise be? If they did Bionic Woman, they could do a pretty good title based on the whole forest fire episode. Use your bionic powers to leap over fires, climb across canyons, and brave rapids to save innocent children and dogs from the raging fires! Well, it sounded good in my head. jetset #6 Posted September 6, 2006 What would the premise be? Fembots and the Venus Probe! And of course Sasquatch! Thank you for making me feel way less geeky. I thought I was bad remembering the bionic woman but MAN! Did you google that or did you actually remember it all on your own?? I do remember the fembots and sasquatch now that you mention them. D.Yancey #8 Posted September 6, 2006 Don't forget the seven million dollar man. His body rejected his bionics. Then there was Max the bionic German Shephard. And the bionic boy.... Oscar Goldman fembot...LOL
jbanes #9 Posted September 6, 2006 Then there was Max the bionic German Shephard. That was the forest fire episode. Remember? Max ran into the hills and Bionic Woman had to chase him through raging flames and other dangers. Just to save Bionic Man's (Woman's?) Best Friend. The spinoff also was dead by that time (was around from 1976-1978). Though it would be interesting to do a Six Million Dollar Man game based off that venus lander robot episode, where the Venus lander comes back to earth and wreaks havok and Steve Austin has to do battle with it. I thought I was bad remembering the bionic woman but MAN! Did you google that or did you actually remember it all on your own?? Oh come on, I remembered that stuff too! I also knew that the experimental plane crash scene used in the opening sequence was a real event, and that pilot Bruce Peterson actually did survive (sans bionics, though he lost an eye from infection). I didn't know until later that there are actually two different "lifting body" aircraft shown in the sequence -- the one initially shown dropping from the bomber is the HL-10, and the one that crashed is the much earlier M2-F2. BTW, the M2-F2 also survived that horrible crash, to be rebuilt with slight modifications as the M2-F3! Data from the flight tests of these lifting body aircraft led to the Space Shuttle being specifically not designed as a lifting body, due to their inherent instability. Wasn't that a double episode? I remember watching it as a kid (I even made that robot out of LEGO). I believe there was another (double) episode in which that robot (or another model) returned. Wasn't there some kind of saw blade inside that robot that could come out? Come to think of it: I also remember watching an episode in which Steve had to battle with some kind of Yeti. It made a huge impression on me. I really wish I could see these episodes again.

Rom Hunter #15 Posted September 6, 2006 Fantastic! Hilarious to watch now, but I can still imagine it made a huge impact on me as an eight year old child. Thanks for the links! Great moments of nostalgia.

Remembered it. I LOVED this show as a kid. Had the action figure, the rocketship, the whole deal. And my sister had a bionic woman so I could borrow her and team them up. And NO not for THAT
Christophero Sly #17 Posted September 6, 2006 (edited) This was my favorite show when I was a kid. I got the toys for just about every Christmas in the mid-70's. I wish I would have taken better care of all that stuff. I wonder why this show hasn't made it to DVD yet. jbanes #18 Posted September 6, 2006 I wonder why this show hasn't made it to DVD yet. From what I understand, they're already out in Europe and may be released in the US sometime in the not too distant future. http://www.amazon.com/Six-Million-Dollar-M...=UTF8&s=dvd http://www.amazon.com/Bionic-Woman-Leslie-...=UTF8&s=dvd
godzillajoe #19 Posted September 6, 2006 Supposedly there were/are legal issues preventing the US releases. Who owns the rights or some nonsense.

jboypacman #21 Posted September 6, 2006 You got to have Big Foot and the Mask-a-Tron robots in a 6 Million Dollar Man game if one was made.
Atariboy2600 #22 Posted September 6, 2006 You got to have Big Foot and the Mask-a-Tron robots in a 6 Million Dollar Man game if one was made. AND The DEATH PROBE! Dont forget that baby.
godzillajoe #23 Posted September 7, 2006 Why would you even BUILD a death probe? Was this something those evil Russians were responsible for? I always called it the Venus Probe because that what it was built for if I remember correctly And it was made crazy tough to withstand the harsh environment on that planet. So of course they had to program it to kill anything that moved and to lasso things with unbreakable cables and slice them up with a table saw. What the heck were they expecting to find on Venus anyway?!
