What would happen if I had an ST hooked up to a TV and an SC124 mono monitor and I turned on both at the same time?

 

only kidding,

 

Would this setup work?.... only turn on the one i need. TV for games and mono monitor for midi and other high rez apps.

 

reason I ask is I might be able to get a1040STfm to replace my working 1040STf with dead SC1224 monitor.

 

It's cheaper for me to buy the 1040stfm then a color monitor.

I think that the best way is ti build a switcher yourself.

IIRC, the atari 'senses' the resistance on the plug to understand what device is connected.

There is monochrome detect signal in the monitor output. So if you have mono monitor connected there is no picture on the TV antena.

You can hook up both with a switch connected to the Atari monitor port.

Else you will have to disconnect the monochrome monitor each time you want to use colour.

You're talking about the Monitor Master, aren't you? By the same folks who made the Mouse Master, by Practical Solutions.

 

All I recall is that the MM has Mono and Colour monitor ports, switchable with the flick of a switch.
