I don't remember which is which, but one joystick (the right joystick?) controls Indy's movement, and the other joystick (the left joystick?) selects between the different objects in the inventory strip. ATARIPITBULL #4 Posted September 9, 2006 That's right, you use both joysticks.
super_dos_man #5 Posted September 9, 2006 I was trying to move him with the left joystick lol. I used the right and walah!
BLarry71 #6 Posted September 9, 2006 i never got very far in this game with one or two joysticks
pocketmego #7 Posted September 9, 2006 i never got very far in this game with one or two joysticks Yeah, same here. This is definately an example of a game that was just WAY more complicated than a 2600 game should have been. I think fans of the film would have been just as happy with something more action oriented like Pitfall, Montezuma's Revenge, or Tutekahn. But, HSW just really wanted this over-zealous game and I was no good at it then and i'm no good at it now. When I was a kid I swear once you left the first screen you'd fall to your death every time. -Ray

I think me and all my friends solved it back in the day when you had the summer off and nothing to worry about. It just takes a little practice and patience. We even loved Riddle Of The Sphinx It was a nice change of pace from the move side to side and shoot stuff games A Montezema's Revenge style Indy game would have been cool too. Lord Thag #9 Posted September 9, 2006 I like it a lot. You do have to put some effort into learning it, but it's pretty fun. I just beat it the other night, actually. Riddle of the Sphinx is my favorite, though.
moycon #10 Posted September 9, 2006 A friend of mine and me beat ROTLA back in the day. We left the game on overnight or for a good long while in the map room because we were trying to fogure out what the heck you had to do. We finally figured it out and beat it!! Man I remember we felt like a million bucks after that. I apparently also could beat ROTS..but to be honest I never knew it back then because there really isnt any indication you beat it other than it ends. Of the two ROTLA was definately my favorite. Foxsolo2000 #11 Posted September 9, 2006 Took me a long time to complete the thing but when I did I felt immensly satisfied that I had managed it at all. I am still trying to hunt down all the rumoured eggs and bugs that were suppossed to be in it though

My friend John and I, back in the day's in Detroit, did almost the same thing, we started out on Friday afternoon and played that game till late Saturday before we figured it out, we were so happy that it was as if we had found the Ark for real. 2600lover #13 Posted September 9, 2006 Yeah, I have it but never play it, ok maybe once in a while. I sit down to read the manual, plug it in, and play for about 1-2 mins, pull it out, plug in something else, play for 1 hr.
Rom Hunter #14 Posted September 10, 2006 I am still trying to hunt down all the rumoured eggs and bugs that were suppossed to be in it though I don't think there's much more than this:http://www.digitpress.com/eastereggs/26rai...fthelostark.htm
Foxsolo2000 #15 Posted September 10, 2006 I am still trying to hunt down all the rumoured eggs and bugs that were suppossed to be in it though I don't think there's much more than this:http://www.digitpress.com/eastereggs/26rai...fthelostark.htm Yes but although very detailed there are still a couple of points that need to be hammered out such as the significance of the dot in the Mesa field, the secret hole in any mesa when you lift the dirt pile up and the fact that you can make the screen turn black by collecting a drop then attempting to drop it. According to the Atari newsletter in the Uk it was suppossed to be a clue, but a clue to what?
JacobZu7zu7 #16 Posted September 10, 2006 I've had this game for some time now... Still haven't gotten enough patience to try anything. The manual probably helps.. but still not in the mood yet. In fact, yesterday I got the Raiders tape at a yard sale. I haven't seen this movie, maybe it will give me insentive.

In fact, yesterday I got the Raiders tape at a yard sale. I haven't seen this movie, maybe it will give me insentive. The manual definitely helps. By "tape" I hope you mean a videotape of the movie. The movie and the game have very little in common aside from the map room scene, so watching the movie won't help with the game at all.
