8th lutz #1 Posted September 9, 2006 (edited) http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/top10/626.html I didn't make this list. The top has these games in following order: 10.) Surround 9.) Boxing 8.) Fishing derby 7.) Armor ambush 6.) Indy 500 5.) Combat 4.) Tennis 3.) Frogs and Flies 2.) Ice Hockey 1.) Warlords Any thoughts and what would of been your top ten list on greatest multiplayer games on the 2600? Edited September 9, 2006 by 8th lutz
pocketmego #2 Posted September 9, 2006 Nah, this was a pretty good list. I'd go with this one. As opposed to that awful shooters list from a few threads back. -Ray
Gregory DG #3 Posted September 9, 2006 What? No Video Olympics?! Warlords is right. It's #1.
Brian R. #4 Posted September 9, 2006 (edited) Glad to see Fishing Derby and Frogs and Flies on the list. They're quite good playing solo, too. Don't know if it's true with Fishing Derby, but I tend to think Frogs and Flies is often overlooked and doesn't get enough respect, or play. Edited September 9, 2006 by Brian R. +Wonder007 #5 Posted September 9, 2006 Warlords is definitely #1, without a doubt!!!!!
Foxsolo2000 #6 Posted September 9, 2006 I agree with Warlords being number 1 but I would have put Combat at number 2 for I loved its adrenalin induced madness in the tank pong games for you had no idea where your tank was going to end up
Lord Thag #7 Posted September 9, 2006 I'd vote Warlords as #1 too. Most of the others are good as well. Pretty decent list except for th absence of Maze Craze. That is one of the all time great multiplayer games.
A.J. Franzman #8 Posted September 9, 2006 Agreed; I'd definitely put Maze Craze ahead of Surround (and possibly Boxing). I was always fond of 2-player simultaneous Space Invaders too.
Deteacher #9 Posted September 9, 2006 My favorite multi-player game for the 2600 was Armor Ambush. I loved the idea of having to control 2 tanks. It made for some interesting strategy, IMO I also liked playing 2-player Space Invaders, where both players play at the same time. That was always fun too. jboypacman #10 Posted September 9, 2006 Warlords at number one is about right. But i think Combat should of been high on the list.It should of been at number 2.Frog and Flies i can see at number 3.Its a great but overlooked game. Why no Video Oympics or Maze Craze? gremlin #11 Posted September 9, 2006 i just think of any game that i could play with a significant other. especially after we have had a few drinks on a weekend night and nothing is on tv. let her win a few times, and who knows what will happen afterwards... dr. mario is good for nintendo if you don't want to hook up the old atari. so yeah, frogs and flies especially (that is soooo much fun), and maybe warlords. fishing derby is good too. but what about dragster? 2 player at the same time games are awesome. they should have made more. i still think frogs and flies is the best date game ever! it is so weird and both parties get equal play and the best player wins. it lets you you know who is more dominant and controlling (and who will be on top, if you know what i mean). barrett
Opo Terser #12 Posted September 9, 2006 Surround kicks Warlords' ass. Is Warlords the only "true" 4-player game for the 2600?
godzillajoe #13 Posted September 9, 2006 (edited) So what's been left out excluding homebrews? Joust, Space Invaders, Mario Bros, all the sports games, Maze Craze, Freeway, Outlaw, Quick Step, Slot Racers, Space War, Sprintmaster, Wizard Of Wor BTW Steeplechase and Party Games on the Supercharger are 4 player simultaneous. Video Olympics as well right? Edited September 9, 2006 by godzillajoe
Dino #14 Posted September 11, 2006 I also like air sea battle in 2 player mode.
nester #15 Posted September 11, 2006 Yeah, this is a pretty good list, except I still think there are better multiplayer sports games than Ice Hockey. I also noticed that there aren't very many paddle games on there. Where's Circus Atari? Of course there are so many mulitplayer games for the system. I'm sure everyone's lists would be a little different.
Video #16 Posted September 11, 2006 I would have had Decathalon on there too. Not simultanious, but it does have 4 player action, and short of Combat, it's the most played multiplayer game me and my friends play.
BrianC #17 Posted September 11, 2006 There are also the multi-event games from Epyx for the 2600. All three of them can played with up to 8 players. Not simultaneous (with some exceptions for a couple of events in Summer and Winter games), but very competitive. All three of those multi-event games are excellent.
