Best online store to buy an unopened copy of Moon Patrol?

Recommended Posts

I've got a 5200 arriving sometime this week with a few games but what would top it off would be Moon Patrol. I've been playing it on the emulators and as much as I love the slicker looking Coleco version-I favor the speed and control of the 5200 version more. I plan to pick up a used cart copy on EBay pretty quick but was wondering where would be the best place online to grab an unopened copy, its one of my favorite games of all time so I want it in my collection here.

Right now there's a brand new, unopened copy selling for $30 dollars on EBay. Is that sorta pricey or does that fall in line with what it would go for every where else? Does anyone know of a good online store that might save me a few bucks?

Thanks.

You can try www.4jays.net or www.atari2600.com. I've ordered stuff from both of them before and they're great with everting. Both places are pretty fast with shipping, so you should have it in no time...

If the guy that's selling an unopened copy for $30.00 on eBay is who I think it is, you may want to steer clear. He tends to be VERY overpriced...

I'll check those sites out in abit. Thanks for the links. I just found a new copy at http://members.tcq.net/video61/5200new.html for $20.00 new...not bad.

Here is the guy who is selling the game for 30 dollars on EBay. Is he the one you might have been warning of? :ponder:

That's him. Just about every boxed game he sells is priced for twice as much as it should be.

I'll second the atari2600.com and 4jays votes. Both are excellent vendors, and I've ordered tons of stuff from them over the years.

Atari2600.com is your best bet.I like Trade N Games too but there games are almost always loose.I good things about 4Jays as well.

These two sites alone are awesome and quite well priced on retro stuff. The Atari 2600.com site just kills me though, wow such sweet prices. You guys weren't kidding on these two online store being damn good, theyre making what EBay is asking sorta weak. Though I still love EBay anyways.

Thanks.

I wound up going with Atari2600.com as the Trade N Games didn't have the game in. I got it brand new for $14.95 I was going to also grab a new boxed copy of Defender(5200) for around 8 bucks but decided to take it easy since I have a boat load of games already bought off EBay this week. I am thinking ahead about a new set of controllers since I've heard bad things about the pack in that came with the system. I dunno if I buy the totally rebuilt types or just go with one of the Redemption adapters instead. http://www.atariage.com/store/index.php?ma...amp;cPath=22_76

In your guys opinions which would be best? I am leaning towards the Redemption adapters since I like the idea of using Genesis and 2600 pads for the 5200 system. The one area that I am cautious about is with games that use multiple buttons in their gameplay.

For example-Defender has you using 2 fire buttons and one of the keypad buttons from the 5200 controller. I'm sure the Genesis can handle both fire buttons for the game(lazer fire+ smart bombs) but what about the hyper space button which uses the 5200 keypad? I know there are 6 button Genesis pads out there but is it that simple as just using one of the six buttons for Defender's lazer, smartbomb, and hyperspace inputs ...I dunno I'm thinking it might not be.

When i got my 5200 from Atari2600.Com it came with 2 rebuilt controllers which was cool.Am going to eventually have to replace them so i was considering getting the redemption adaptor myself.Like you Angelus i was wondering about how the sega controllers would handle games like Defender where you need multi-buttons.

You bought two rebuilt pads yet you're going to have to replace them? This is info that is invaluable here. Because I am either going to go for rebuilt pads or the the redemption adapter. Can you tell me if the rebuilt pads still have the non self centering issue in their analogs? I was hoping that rebuilt pads would fix this but probably not. If thats the case then I'm going to opt to go with the redemption adapter. In your opinion which would you do?

Nope. They still dont self-center.But there not ruined yet either.I was thinking in the future when my controllers will become worn.Am sorry i should of thought out my wording better.I like you also like the ideal of using a sega pad.

Hey you've been a big help because now I know for sure that the rebuilt pads don't have self centering. So it makes it even easier to go with the Redemption adapter now. I'll probably wait awhile before grabbing one since theyre not exactly cheap either. I'll post an impressions thread on it when I eventually get around to buying one, probably in a month or so.

Btw-were there ever any analog type game pads for the Genesis in its day? I only remember seeing analog console pads when Nights and Mario 64 hit the gaming scene. If there was a analog pad for the Genny it would kick all types of butt with the redemption adapter.

(edit)..or I could just buy a Genesis fighting stick and plug it into the adapter.
