8th lutz #1 Posted September 11, 2006 (edited) http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/top10/608.html didn't make this list. The top has these games in following order: 10.) Metamorphic Force (arcade) 9.)Metal Combat: Falcon's Revenge (SNES) 8.) Rocket Knight Adventures (Genesis) 7.) Gunstar Heroes (Genesis) 6.) Streets of Rage 2 (Genesis) 5.) Phantasy Star: The End of the Millennium (Genesis) 4.) Mega Man X (SNES) 3.)Shinobi III: Return of the Ninja Master (Genesis) 2.)Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys (Turbo CD) 1.) Akumajo Dracula X: Chi no Rondo (Turbo CD) Any thoughts and what would of been your top ten list on Top 10? I think this list was inaccurate at parts and seems to depend on when the game was first released in what country in year instead when the game was released in most countries. I also think this person used gamefaqs for year of the games mentioned. I got a issue with Streets of Rage 2 for the genesis being on this. The genesis version was released 1992 everywhere and the 8 bit version of Streets of rage 2 was released then. If thise was top 10 games in 92, then I got no problem. Phantasy Star 4 shouldn't be on this list for 1993, should be in 1994 instead. It was released in Japan in 93, but that is the only place arcording to http://www.vgrebirth.org . That game was supposed to be released in 93 in the states but wasn't. I never played 10,9,2,1 in the ranking of the top 10. Akumajo Dracula X blongs its spot on this or in the top 5 if I had a chance to place it. I would keep 8,7,4,3,1 on the list for sure or have considerations. I for games that I played that came out in 1993 I would add these games on my list: Mutant League Football-genesis, Sonic 3, Lufia-snes,Shining force -genesis, Samurai Showdown and keep 8,7,3 on the list. I would've changed where Gunstar Heroes was at least and put it a couple spots higher. I would've had these games as honorable mentions Bust-a move-arcade, Kirby's Adventure-nes, Duck tales 2-nes, Bomberman, Super bomberman, Mortal Kombat 2-arcade, Super Mario All-stars, The Legend of Zelda: Links Awakening, Street fighter 2: turbo-snes, Eternal Champions, Jungle Strike-genesis,and Aladdin-genesis. If I played the Sega cd version of Sonic cd, I would've put in my top 10 instead of Mutant League Football. On games that didn't play, I put Bonk 3-tg -16, Lunar Silver Story-sega cd, Lords of Thunder-tcd in the states, Lost vikings-nes, and Star Fox-snes as games I would put down on the list or considered. I might of forgotton some, but it was a great year for games. Edited September 11, 2006 by 8th lutz

kevincal #3 Posted September 11, 2006 Wasn't there a Sonic game released in 1993?
tmont #4 Posted September 11, 2006 I'm impressed that Rocket Knight Adventures is up there. I didn't think anyone knew about that game. I don't know if it deserves to be on a top 10 list (unless it's a list of top 10 games featuring a rocket-powered possum), but it is fairly fantastic. nester #5 Posted September 11, 2006 I still think Dracula X is overrated. I finally got a chance to play it a while back and I wasn't overly impressed. It's very much like all the other Castelvania games, but there's this special aura around it because it wasn't released in this country.

RxRated #8 Posted September 11, 2006 (edited) Wasn't Doom released in 93??? PC games MUST not be included. Edited September 11, 2006 by De Butcher
8th lutz #9 Posted September 11, 2006 What about Star Fox for the SNES? I thought it would've been on the list myself or consideration due to the game being impressive and groundbreaking at time. The person put games that weren't release in that year like Streets of rage 2 for the gensis on that list.
kevincal #10 Posted September 11, 2006 Wasn't there a Sonic game released in 1993? Yes. Sonic 3. Hmph, I really liked Sonic 3. Should have easily been in the top 10.
8th lutz #11 Posted September 11, 2006 Wasn't there a Sonic game released in 1993? Yes. Sonic 3. Hmph, I really liked Sonic 3. Should have easily been in the top 10. This Person had sonic at #10 in 1994. This person didn't had all the games correctly by date. I didn't check out all his year lists yet. This person had a list from the years 1987 to 1997. 8th lutz #12 Posted September 11, 2006 Wasn't Doom released in 93??? PC games MUST not be included. Doom was released in 1993. This person did computer games in past lists like Metal Gear for the MSX for 1987. It apears that only MSX games were from the computer side that made it on his lists. Flojomojo #14 Posted September 12, 2006 Isn't "games released in 1993" a little too specific to be interesting? "What games from the 2nd fifth of the life of the Super Nintendo are your favorites?" It was an OK year for 16-bit consoles, but very exciting times for PCs. The newer consoles were just getting started -- Jaguar and 3DO were out but too expensive and didn't have much software yet. Cybermorph came out in 1993. Going from this page (http://www.mobygames.com/browse/games/1993), I would choose, among others: 7th Guest Doom Myst Master of Orion Pirates Gold Prince of Persia Star Trek: Judgment Rites X-Wing Sonic CD Wing Commander Privateer Syndicate Super Mario All-Stars Spectre VR Battlewheels (Atari Lynx) Star Fox Super Star Wars Super Street Fighter Hyper Fighting (SNES) Frontier: Elite II Sim City 2000 Iron Helix ...there are many more I would list, too. I suppose Gunstar Heroes and Streets of Rage 2 belong there, but you can't make a "top games of 1993" without talking about the early CD games of the year. Ys IV but not Myst? OK, maybe it's just one person's opinion, but wow, what narrow vision!
Galcian #15 Posted September 20, 2006 (edited) 8th lutz, when I wrote that top 10, I used Japanese release dates for the Japanese games. The reason being is because for Japanese games, it's the game's debut. Sometimes it takes years for a Japanese game to be localized, and I don't think it's fair to those games to be pitted against Western games that are more up to date, or games developed by companies that have much larger budgets for localization. Look at Epica Stella. It came out in 1998, where it was fairly impressive, but it didn't come out here until late 2000 when it had titles like Chrono Cross and Final Fantasy IX to compete with, so I'd rather judge the game on 1998 standards than 2000 standards. On the matter of Streets of Rage 2, it did indeed come out in 1993. January 13th to be exact. That's the absolute first time it was released, positively, no doubt. I only have one incorrect date on my top 10s and that was Zelda II: Adventure of Link which I incorrectly placed in 1988 when it actually came out in 1987. On the matter of Doom, Wolfenstein, etc., well, call me biased, but I'm a console gamer all the way. I only have very little experience with PC games because the PC market is comprised mainly of first person shooters, real time strategy, MMORPGs, hack and slash RPGs, sims, and point & click adventure games. I'm not particularly fascinated by any of these genres, so the PC platform has very little to offer me. That's not to say I completely exclude PC games from consideration. Grim Fandango is one of my favorite games of all time. It's just that they've never had quite the impact on me that console games have had. Video #16 Posted September 21, 2006 Wasn't the Jaguar, and it's version of Doom ALSO released in 93? I may be way off, but I thought it was. And I wans't aware Star Fox was released in 93, I was always thinking FX games came closer to the end of the SNES life, not that close to the begining (Stunt Race FX was released along side it) I remember paying a pretty penny to get the game back then, and never regretted it. Even today, it's my most played of the SNES titles I have.
