Maybe Apple should have come up with an iPod made for music, videos, AND games, rather than trying to fit games into an existing iPod made for music and videos (or just music).

Maybe instead of getting games they could make them out of something that scratches less than the fine china they are currently made out of. Screw games and movies why don't you make it slightly durable instead?

But then you wouldn't have a reason to purchase a new model every other year!

So where is everyone that's supposed to be welcoming Apple back to the video game arena? Show yourselves, you legions of Pippin owners.

Joking aside, if Mattel's Hyper Scan "card battling system" can bring people out of the woodwork on this forum ... Does no one see the framework Apple is laying here?

I assume the games work with the video output on the iPod resulting in a plug-and-play big screen experience. If the next gen of iPod features BlueTooth support, we could see a wireless controller (or 2?) for playing games on your TV from a docked iPod.

With enough success, that could very easily turn into the framework for a new console with an online distribution infrastructure in place, somewhat like an Xbox Live Arcade standalone console. Given the success of Live Arcade, it's not impossible to imagine a company like Apple considering a console built on classics and new simple games. Tetris and Pac-Man are a good start, not to mention the support of EA.

Just a thought.

I'm just finding it really odd that there is so much money in this Itunes crap. Don't get me wrong digital distrabution is a great idea. But after I downloaded a couple of (free) episodes of x play and two MST shorts that was about it. And when my Ipods memory got wiped I never had any urge to put them back on.

The battery only lasts about an hour with videos (if that) so movies on a video Ipod just seems moot. And that damn wheel is just hardly exceptible for picking songs let alone playing games.
