The guy probably just screwed up on using the shipping calculator. He looks like his shipping on previousl sold items are reasonable.

UPS is VERY tetchy when it comes to shipping rates and package dimensions. I just shipped a large item in a homemade box that the shipping calc quoted $37 for a trip to California. Apparently my creases weren't straight, because the other end measured ONE QUARTER OF AN INCH wider than the other. That quarter-inch raised the price to $130 !!!

 

Needless to say, I cut the box down right there on their counter, muttering the whole time about 'piracy' and 'idiots'

What you are referring to is

Length and girth greater than 84 in.

 

That looks new to me. I thought it was always 108"

Wasn't even close to 84". Made it even shorter, though
