gamefaqs top 10-top 10 pac-man style games on 2600

Recommended Posts

http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/top10/639.html

I didn't make this list.

The top has these games in following order:

10.) Shark Attack

9.) Alien

8.) Mouse Trap

7.) Jawbreaker

6.) Dodge'em

5.) Dark Cavern

4.) Lock'n Chase

3.) Wizard of War

2.) Bank Heist

1.) Jr. Pac-man

Any thoughts and what would of been your top ten list on top 10 Pac man style games for the 2600?

My thought is were is Mrs. Pac-man on the list. It should of replace Shark Attack. I can't argue with Jr. Pac-man being #1.

What no Ms.Pac-Man?Thats not right. It should of been #1 or #2 with Jr.Pac-Man being one or the other depending on what place Ms.Pac-Man took.Other than that the list is pretty dead on.Shark Attack at #10?That just about right. That game has such bad control to it.

Shark Attack should be thrown off, Ms. Pac-Man should be added, and Alien should be higher than Mouse Trap.

Why shooters as pac-man clones?

Granted, Wizard of Wor is a badass shooter, its just not pac-man like, except for the maze. You don't collect dots.

Doh. I can't beilieve I forgot about Crystal Castles. It's one of my favorties! Solar Fox is quite good too. Q*Bert is also a Pac-Man style game. I said Pengo at first, but that one is iffy. I feel that Miner 2049er and Adventures of Tron count as Pac-Man style games. They are platformers, but they both share similar elements to Pac-Man. Miner 2049er 2600 doesn't deserve to be in the top ten, but Adventures of Tron does.

How the heck are Q*bert, Pengo, Miner and Tron in any way Pac-man style?

Do you even have to ask? Changing the colors on the blocks in Q*Bert is similar to eating dots in Pac-Man. There is an enemy that chases you in Q*Bert similar to how the ghosts chase you in Pac-Man. Instead of enegerizers, Q*Bert has the discs that make the enemy fall off the playfiled.

I said Pengo was iffy, which should have suggested that I was unsure of that one myself. Enemies chase you and you have to get rid of all the enemies or destroy eggs to complete the level.

Miner 2049er has items that work like the power pills in Pac-Man and requires you to pave the playfield in a way that's VERY similar to eating all the dots in Pac-Man.

Adventures of Tron (not just "Tron". There are two Tron games on the system) requires you to collect items to complete each level similar to collecting dots.

How are Wizard of Wor, Bank Heist, and Dark Cavern Pac-Man style games (and why didn't you question those too)? About the only thing they have in common with Pac-Man is a maze.

But come on, that's like saying Adventure is like Pac-Man because there are dragons that chase you and instead of energizers, the sword can kill them.

Hell, there are even mazes.

Adventure is exactly like Pac-Man!

Hell Donkey Kong is too because you use a hammer to "power up" and kill your enemies

Wizard Of Wor and Dark Cavern do not belong on that list either.

The only reason I didn't question them is because the guy who wrote that isn't here to answer the question

I'm not trying to start a fight, I just disagree.

EVERY video game has something that chases you and tries to kill you.

No, it's not the same. I even went through the trouble of trying to explain exactly why I think Q*Bert and Miner 2049er are Pac-Man style games, which I feel shouldn't have been nescessary. BTW, by chasing, I meant an enemy that constantly goes after you, not just enemies that run along the screen. Yes, it's obvious that not all games with chasing are Pac-Man like games. I was thinking of games that combined aspects, not games that only have one of those. And no, not every game has something that tries to chase you. Some of them have enemies that move in simple patterns, enemies that run away, etc.

I understand you disagree, but I still found the assumptions disrespectful, even if that isn't your intention. The Adventure and DK cracks are uncalled for. The question and snide remarks gave the impression that what I said was assumed to be invalid and laughable. You never explained why you feel that Q*Bert, Miner 2049er, etc. are not Pac-Man style games, you only questioned why I would suggest them.

BTW, I didn't even say the Q*Bert, Miner 2049er, Pengo, or Adventurers of Tron were exactly like Pac-Man. The list is for Pac-Man style games, not games "exactly like Pac-Man".
