MCHufnagel #2 Posted September 17, 2006 I've been playing Tom Clancys Rainbow 6 and a few other strategy games. Anyone know of any similar games or just good games that I should look out for? I just picked up a Dreamcast myself a few weeks ago. I like that Rainbow Six game too! I would say get Shenmue. I love it. One of the best Adventure style games I've played. Grandia II and Skies Of Arcadia are pretty good too, if you like RPGs. The main reason I bought one is because of the arcade shooters and fighting games. No other "modern" system has the variety of those kinds of games the Dreamcast has. I'm sure you'll get more advice here from others, but you can always check out player reviews of games at Gamefaqs or IGN.
Ross PK #3 Posted September 17, 2006 I don't know any similar games, but these are some good games that you should look out for. I'll show some pics as well so you can get a better idea of what they're like. IronMongeR #4 Posted September 17, 2006 Shenmue 1 & 2, Le Mans 24Hr, Sega Rally 2, Sonic Adventure, Sega GT, Sega Rally 2 and Headhunter are my personal favourites.
ls650 #5 Posted September 17, 2006 I recently bought a Dreamcast off of eBay. I wanted a more recent generation machine, but there's no way I can afford anything like an Xbox or a PS2 - but you can find some great deals on used Dreamcasts. I got a working machine with two controllers, a VMU, and 12 original games (most are decent ones too!) for a measly $45 plus shipping. Talk about cheap! SteveW #6 Posted September 17, 2006 I'm not a strategy type person. I bought Rainbow 6 for the Mac when it first came out, and I hated it. I like me some killin' with rocket launchers, personally, none of this new-fangled stealth junk. Unreal Tournament (I personally like this one better than the computer version) Alien Front Online (it can get repetitive quickly, though) San Francisco Rush 2049 Demolition Racer: No Exit (great music, and lots of options to keep it interesting) South Park Rally (I like this one, just for the free roaming kart battles) Phantasy Star Online (you can't get online anymore, but the single player game will suck you in and steal months of your life away) Ooga Booga (fun multiplayer game) Vigilante 8: Second Offense (fun game, but buggy as hell) Star Wars: Demolition (based on Vigilante 8 but bug fixed and marginally deeper gameplay) Gauntlet Legends I'm sure that i'm leaving out a whole lot of titles. The Dreamcast had a suprisingly good lineup, which is why it's got such a dedicated following today, several years after it's commercial failure. Sadly, the only Dreamcast games I can ever find in the wild nowadays are usually sports titles. It sucks when I go into an EBX store to check out their DC games and find literally 30 copies of NFL2K there and nothing else. Yet another reason why I hate sports games. It sucks when I go into an EBX store to check out their DC games and find literally 30 copies of NFL2K there and nothing else. Yet another reason why I hate sports games. Sorry, I have to do it... Three of my favorite DC games are in fact sports games: Tennis 2k2, NBA 2k2, and Golf Shiyouyo! Also look for Space Channel 5, Cosmic Smash, REZ, Rayman 2, ChuChu Rocket, Crazy Taxi 2, Frogger 2, Ms. Pacman - Maze Madness, Typing of the Dead, PenPen TriIcelon, Q*bert (I liked it, so sue me), Soul Calibur, Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2, Mat Hoffman's Pro BMX... ... well, the Dreamcast is a great console to own, the list goes on and on! Jess Ragan #8 Posted September 17, 2006 Capcom is the Dreamcast, and the Dreamcast is Capcom. It's no wonder they were pissed and refused to work with Sega again after the system was cancelled! JR
MCHufnagel #9 Posted September 17, 2006 Capcom is the Dreamcast, and the Dreamcast is Capcom. JR Ain't that the truth. I think half the Dreamcast games I own are published by Capcom!
Crazy Climber #10 Posted September 17, 2006 Cool Herders It's a homebrew that plays like Bomberman if you like multi-player kind of stuff. Always cool to support new software as well.
AussieAtari #11 Posted September 17, 2006 Shenmue 1 & 2, Resident Evil: Code Veronica are the reasons I bought my Dreamcast and from there on it just got better and better. A great machine with a great range of games. I'm just starting to use my DC for emulators now that I have the keyboard for it and it amazes me that such a great machine was squashed, just goes to show the power of marketing over reality. RARusk #12 Posted September 18, 2006 "Soul Calibur" "MDK2" "Sonic Adventure" "Sonic Adventure II" "Dead or Alive 2" Those are some of the titles that immediately come to my mind. By the way, I don't know if you guys know this, but on some of the DreamCast games, if you stick them in a PC or Mac, there are folders with all kinds of goodies in them. "MDK2" has a lot of stuff on it (pictures and MP3s), "DOA2" has pictures of the girls in bikinis, and both Sonic Adventures have wallpapers you can use. I don't know if anybody has made a list of what games have bonus material. And, no, "Soul Calibur" doesn't have any bonus stuff. To find if a game has bonus stuff place it in your PC or Mac and look for a folder that says "Bonus" or has the game's title.
Jess Ragan #13 Posted September 18, 2006 Some Saturn games had these bonus features, too! For instance, Pocket Fighter has a great screen saver with the stars of the game running across the display, erasing everything they touch. Sadly, this "Omake" no longer appears in video games, perhaps due in part to an early episode of South Park that was snuck into Tiger Woods' first Playstation golf game. joeybastard #15 Posted September 18, 2006 The DC kicks HUGE amounts of ass. Here's my fav games: Jet Grind Radio Space Channel Five Chu Chu Rocket Samba Di Amigo MDK2 18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker House of the Dead II Metropolis Street Racer Sega GT Mr. Driller Soul Calibur The fishing games when using the right controller and the one no one is going agree with me on: Dynamite Cop And while I'm sure real sports guys would disagree with me, I like World Series 2K2 and NFL 2K2 better than any other sports games on any other platform. lost child #16 Posted September 18, 2006 (edited) An idea that popped into my head when I read the above post. (If you can't tell, the Dreamcast swirls are supposed to look similar to a footprint, but it didn't turn out as nicely as I'd hoped). I've never played World Series 2k2 or NFL 2k2. I have a copy of World Series 2k1 here somewhere and thought it sucked pretty bad. Apparently there were vast improvements in 2k2? I'll have to pick these up and give 'em a shot! joeybastard #17 Posted September 18, 2006 The controls for WS 2K2 are much better than 2K1. I didn't like 2k1 much either, but when I tried 2k2, the controls made all of the difference for me.

n8littlefield #20 Posted September 18, 2006 Well, all of my suggestions have already been covered, except I don't see anyone else mentioned Toy Commander yet. Great game with a kind of "Toy Story at War" theme that's definately worth picking up. Also, Virtua Tennis, which was mentioned already is a must buy. I'm not a big tennis fan, but the game is awesome.
AussieAtari #21 Posted September 18, 2006 Virtua Tennis is a big "must have", it is one of the best tennis games ever, only rivalled by Activision Tennis on the 2600 Gee Flojomojo, I hope you improved from 7th place in F355 Challenge!

AussieAtari #24 Posted September 18, 2006 Maybe it would have been easier to post a "what DC games should I avoid" thread as this thread (and others before it) really highlights what we all know already - that the DC is one great console with a great library of games enjoyed by those who appreciate fine machinery without the hype.
