Angelus #1 Posted September 17, 2006 (edited) I'm just curious to see where we all rank in the 7800 games we play. While I'm a new owner of the 7800, one thing is apparent-I love the system alot. I try to play the games every evening and I'm getting better at recapturing my glory days when I could play on a quarter for a long time. I mainly focus on a few games each week since playing too many just breaks down my skill between all of them. Anyways without further ado I'm curious where you guys rank in all time high scores. Here are mine(I play each game on the standard settings.) Asteroids VE (25,050) Centipede (100,313) Mario Brothers (289,040 - Round 30) Donkey Kong (87,800) Galaga (179,800) Pole Position 2 (*The Test Track* 70,400, *The Fuji Track* 67,600) PacMan (174,930 - 7th Key) Ms. PacMan (118,170 -passed all the Jr. boards, died on the return of the Chase boards-2nd one.) (All time highest *started on the banana setting 125,830) Feel free to list other games that you've been playing. I was going to list a few others such as Ms. Pac Attack and Ultra Pacman but I haven't quite got those down to anything respectable in score so theres always another time. Overall I play alot of Mario Brothers along with the Pacman games. Centipede is one I'm going to start devoting more time to pretty soon though. Oh and someone around a week or two ago spoke about scoring 200,000 on Asteroids I believe? Thats amazing. I can barely break 20,000 on this game, you are a God. godzillajoe #3 Posted September 17, 2006 That's pretty good for Centipede. I can't even break 21,000. Yet. That's a damn fine game. I love the 2 player options. And I guess the rubber feet on my Wico trackball melted at some point during the summer and now I have melted rubber goo on my jeans from holding the controller on my lap. I hope that crap comes out in the wash.

godzillajoe #8 Posted September 17, 2006 (edited) I topped out at about 39,000 I'll give it a few more tries after the Patriots game I like when someone posts about a certain game. It inspires me to play it. I tried something similar with my Game Of The Week post a while back in the 2600 forum but there didn't seem to be too much interest Not necessarily to infringe on the HSC but to get some of the lesser known games some playtime I picked Time Pilot but I guess not too many people own it or just didn't care Edited September 17, 2006 by godzillajoe
Angelus #9 Posted September 17, 2006 centepede 500,000 - 750,000 or more depending if its a good day or not. What? Daaaaamn. Thats an awesome score you have there. I can't even come close to 100,000 lately,I guess i need to practice more. Those darn spiders keep nailing me when I'm killing the centepedes. To the original poster-I didnt mean to infringe on your High score thread. I just wanted to get an idea of what others are scoring in games that wren't listed in your thread so I decided to start off fresh with my own topic is all. I'm going to play some Centipede and Asteroids and see what kind of scores I can rack up. Post 'em if you got 'em.

Screenshots appreciated but not required Cousin Vinnie Rubs hands..oh man this is gonna be neat. Yeah I play all my games on the standard setting so no problem there. Thanks for throwing this out to me. I broke my score on Asteroids last night but I still have some work to do to top the scores in your forum. This should give me a little more incentive to kick some ass on the games now. In order to be accepted in your rankings do I have to register at your forum or would a simple picture by email showing proof of accomplishment do the trick? Also-I'm playing Asteroids VE. Other than the graphics I can see no real difference between this and the regular game. Which would you rather prefer I use though,I mean if there is a difference in difficulty between the two I haven't noticed. I like the old school look to Asteroids VE more but really I can play either one, just let me know which you prefer that I use in my scoring. Thanks. You could post them in this forum, actually.... that would be the easiest way for me to see it because I rarely check my email. I kind of use Atari Age as my forums and news source for my site anyway. Also, if you post it here it might generate some interest in the High Score Club. You might be interested to know that the high scores on my site were taken from past 7800 High Score Clubs, Early 90's Gamepro mags, individuals that email me, and Twin Galaxies. So that's pretty darn diverse sourec info, meaning that if you beat a score on there there is a good chance you have one of the best scores around (on the popular games at least) I would prefer you play the original 7800 games on cart or on the CC2-no hacks or emulators. Just so it's 100% even. Cousin Vinnie

I think I might be able to come close to taking on that Mario Brothers score since its one of the games I play even when I'm asleep**haha*** Yeah I plan to play the games on my home system-sorry about not being clear on that. So I assume I can go ahead and use Asteroids (Vectrex version) then? I bought a copy from Pacman Plus a few weeks ago so its all legit by playing it on a home system. Maybe he could step in and confirm that this version is pretty much what the original was in difficulty? It plays the same as far as I can tell. I absolutely suck at Asteroids right now. I'm playing with a Spectre stick and I just cannot come close to matching my old high score. I guess I'll use the old Atari 2600 stick then, that thing kills my hand when playing Asteroids but I tend score alot higher though.
godzillajoe #17 Posted September 19, 2006 88,645 on Centipede today. The joystick is MUCH better than the Wico trackball. At least for me Hey Vinnie that beats the High Score for Centipede on your page!

Shawn #20 Posted September 19, 2006 (edited) Ya, my centepede score is pretty good I guess but I could never break the million mark. I've got close but never broke it.
