RF screw connector thingamagig

Recommended Posts

This is a very silly question, but what do you call those older tiny box adapters that have the female coax end on one side and the little screw-in tabs (to connect to the standard switchbox) on the other side so that you can plug the switchbox into a TV that has only coax? I am looking for a picture of one.

Thanks.

My Google-Fu is not what it used to be, but I got it. 300 ohm to 75 ohm. Guess I should know these things.

They still make those things. A dollar store near where I work has a whole bunch of the things. Pretty bizarre, in this day and age.

"Impedance matching transformer" (a.k.a. "BALUN", if you're radio-savvy).

BTW, every F-connector coax input I've seen on a TV was female, so the one on the impedance matching transformer to connect the oldschool switchbox must be male, as shown in your link in post #2.

It wasn't for me--I sold a 2600 on eBay and the seller needed an adapter. I didn't have one to include with the sale, so was trying to be helpful and show all the available options. I got rid of all my switchboxes a long time ago.

Lucky buyer got a crazy good deal because I forgot to change the shipping to "calculated" and charged just $10 to make what turned out to be a $19 Priority shipment across the country. Gah.
