ATARIPITBULL #3 Posted October 1, 2006 I don't know how many of you would care about this sort of thing, but here's part of an advertisement from a local department store I found particularly interesting. See, now thats Atari history I hope you have that ad framed.
Philflound #4 Posted October 1, 2006 Yes, that's definitely a cool piece of memorabilia you won't see every day. Good job and yes, you should frame it. Phil
+atari2600land #5 Posted October 1, 2006 I framed the ad. The frame is covering up the last millimeters, but I didn't fold it. Had to get a 4x6 frame unless I wanted to pay more for a custom-made one, so that blue stuff is more of the ad. In case you're wondering what that stuff is to the right of the pic, I'm beginning to get my Halloween stuff out.

sandmountainslim #7 Posted October 1, 2006 Hmm.. Space War or Blackjack. Decisions decisions. That's like offering someone a choice between a mouthful of gravel or a drink of cat urine I LOVE the VCS but those games suck!

jpfalcon2003 #11 Posted October 2, 2006 Those particular games were WAY before my time, so I don't really think much of them. If I had had an Atari back in that part of the 80's things may have been different. I probably would have paid the extra $$$ for more advanced interesting games though I'm sure. Thanks for sharing that piece of history. It was very interesting to see something from that part of the Atari gaming era.
+SpiceWare #12 Posted October 2, 2006 wait a minute, what the heck is wrong with space war??? Nothing - it was one of our favorties growing up. Possibly it's boring if you don't have any friends to play against?
BassGuitari #13 Posted October 3, 2006 I like how it pictures Surround instead of Space War.
Tempest #14 Posted October 3, 2006 wait a minute, what the heck is wrong with space war??? Nothing - it was one of our favorties growing up. Possibly it's boring if you don't have any friends to play against? My friend and I used to go full speed and then try to shoot at each other. We were whizzing around the screen so fast it was nearly impossible, but damn it was fun. Tempest
ripjtk #15 Posted October 4, 2006 My buddies and I used to cut out pink and blue construction paper with little lightning bolts and tape them to the screen. Then one of us would prentend to be the Enterprise and the other the Reliant and just go at it. Space War ROCKED! Star Ship is the one that stinks... BassGuitari #16 Posted October 5, 2006 Star Ship is the one that stinks... I myself find Star Ship more playable than Space War. I like Space War well enough, but the single-player space ship docking game is a little abstract, though cool once you get into it. It's fun in the same way chess is fun, your movement must be very analytical and precise. With Star Ship I can fly through space and shoot stuff for a few minutes and be done with it. Which isn't to say that's a better thing or a worse thing, it's just more accessible (if you can figure out that it uses the right-player joystick ).
