majinbuu #1 Posted October 1, 2006 Hi There, long time reader, first time poster. I have always loved the 2600 and have been playing it in some capacity for 20 years. Just by looking at these forums the 2600 seems to have the largest fanbase of any vintage console in the world. Now to my question. I recently started playing Warlords and am having a blast in 2 player mode. However it seems the computer players are too easy. What I want to know is what variation do you guys play on this game? Thanks
Big Player #2 Posted October 2, 2006 There really isn't any variation on Warlords with decent enemy A.I. You have to play Castle Crisis for the A8 and 5200 or better yet, wait for homebrew author Spiceware to finish Medieval Mayhem. Warlord for the 2600 is the best multi-player game for the 2600 but it's really nothing special as a one player game. Use the one player levels for practice. Shannon #3 Posted October 2, 2006 Warlords for the 2600 is a blast to play with three or more players, but solo play is pretty bland. Castle Crisis is a great game and mucho's fun no matter how you slice it
carpecarne #4 Posted October 2, 2006 Agreed with the others. My girlfriend and I call the AI "Mr Self-Destruct" (after the NIN song of course). Warlords is the perfect 4 player games. A good 2 player game. An ok 1 player game.
+SpiceWare #5 Posted October 2, 2006 If you're interested, I just posted an update to Medieval Mayhem over in the Homebrew forum. It features an options menu, launch dragon and multiple fireballs. You can try it out on your computer using an emulator such as Stella. The only tricky part is configuring it to use paddles as Stella will default to joysticks. 1) start Stella 2) load Medieval Mayhem 3) hit TAB, a menu will pop up 4) select Game Properties 5) on the CARTRIDGE tab set SOUND to STEREO 6) select the CONTROLLER tab 7) change both controllers to PADDLES hit OK 9) hit EXIT MENU 10) restart the emulator for the change to take effect. Under OS X use APPLE R, under Windows and Linux use CONTROL R. You'll get a message "New Console Created" when it restarts.
majinbuu #6 Posted October 2, 2006 Thanks for the replies guys. I understand that it is best in 4 player mode, but I basically just don't understand the variation system for warlords and the manual doesn't explain a hell of a lot. If someone can help a newbie to this game out, I would be very grateful
graywest #7 Posted October 3, 2006 I think the only REAL variations on the Warlords cart are catch/no catch and medium speed ball/super fast ball. The other variations are the same, just for two, three or four players.
