raskar42 #1 Posted October 10, 2006 I got this off of ebay for my 2600, only it's not a 2600 cart it's got a wierd hole in the back 2600 Empire next to unknown starwars, parker brothers case is boxy compared to 2600 parker brothers case back view i think it's the wrong shape for a 5200 cart, but I know some 5200 carts had a space for overlays on the back, i'm thinkinh 400/800 but I really don't know. raskar42 #3 Posted October 10, 2006 (edited) It's a Colecovision cart. Tempest I was way off. cool thanks. what's a colecovision? Edited October 10, 2006 by raskar42
Video #4 Posted October 10, 2006 It's a colecovision cart, but somebody already beat me to it. Coleco is what Atari actually buiilt the 5200 system to compete with. It's a pretty decent system with a schit power switch that will give you problems, but it's got great graphics (for it's time) and quiet a few great games. Check it out sometime if you get an chance to.
raskar42 #5 Posted October 11, 2006 cool, I checked out screen shots of starwars and it looks much better than 2600version. aside from power switch, is there anything else I should know if I deside to buy one?
shadow460 #6 Posted October 11, 2006 I've read that there's a 16 second delay between the time you hit the power switch and the game actually loads. I've also heard that the controllers suck. Maybe I shouldn't believe everything I hear or read on the internet, though. Give the system a try! BTW, I find that alot of different carts are sold as "2600" carts. Intellivision, ColecoVision, 5200, 400/800, Odyssey2, and some I've forgotten are usually in the "2600 rack".
Crazy Climber #7 Posted October 11, 2006 Coleco controllers suck balls.
SteveW #8 Posted October 11, 2006 The Super Action Controllers are decent joysticks. The Colecovision is a nice machine, but it's hard to find a working one. I had to buy 4 of them before I found one that was reliable. And it isn't problem-free. Coleco made a good game console, but they built them with the cheapest parts possible. It's got some good games for it that make it worth the effort to locate a working one.
2600Lives #9 Posted October 11, 2006 I love the Coleco. Your best bet to find a working one is either off of ebay or a website that specializes in stuff like this. The controllers DO suck, though, so be prepared to spend some time getting used to them. I still play the occasional game of Donkey Kong on mine. jboypacman #10 Posted October 16, 2006 The controllers are not that good.I have 2 Colecovisions that were given to me.1 works ok but has problems. My second one came boxed(worn but in decent shape)and will only play in black and white.Am having my friend look at it to see if he can do anything with it.I tend to use my Atari sticks when ever possiable when i play my Coleco.Great system with a few problems.
