vdub_bobby #3 Posted October 16, 2006 (edited) Here's a link: http://www.totalgba.com/ Never bought from them, so I dunno about reliability, etc. EDIT: Just noticed that they serve Europe only, but I'm pretty sure you can buy other stuff in the states. rorysl #4 Posted October 16, 2006 (edited) I have an X-ROM 512MB Flash cart that I purchased from EasyBuy2000 if I remember correctly. I got all of my information from www.gameboy-advance.net and found the people there REALLY helpful. There are links to trust-worthy dealers there as well (including EasyBuy2000). I couldn't be happier with my flash cart. I can flash GBA roms to the cart for playing and can also load it up with emulators. There are NES and SMS emulators that work fantastic (although the NES sound is a little off when played through the Gamecube + Gameboy Player on a regular TV). Apparently there is an SNES emulator being toyed with but I haven't given that a try yet. You can also play Gameboy and Gameboy Color ROM's as well. For those you need to download an emulator (Goomba and Gooma Color) in order to play them but they work fine. The Rom and software (LittleWriter) are very easy to use. I can't say enough good things about the setup. Here's my math: GBA + Flash cart + Gamecube w/Gameboy Player = AWESOME. I can play the Dragon Warrior 1-3 Gameboy Color remakes on my big screen TV using my Gamecube w/Gameboy Player then take the cart out and pop it in my GBA to take it on the road. If you have a GBA, I would recommend picking one up. Check that site out and be sure to do your research before buying -- I bought my cart over a year ago so I'm sure there are better ones out there by now. As well, I do know that you need special carts for the Micro and I'm sure the same applies to the DS. Edited October 18, 2006 by rorysl

madhatter667 #6 Posted October 17, 2006 Sweet! I have an SP, and I am totally wanting a DS... and since almost all the flash carts work on the DS in regards to GBA play... what more could you want? One can theoretically plunk various Game Boy ROMs to it as well. This could not only be a great way to tote around games, but could well serve as a preservation tool. rorysl #7 Posted October 18, 2006 thanks for the info! i am glad to hear it does work, but...i am and will always be a mac person...will it work on my computer? I'm not sure but I would imagine there are Mac versions of Littlewriter -- check the site I mentioned above and you should find all your answers. I was poking around there the other day and I noticed that with the X-ROM flash cart you can play on a DS no problem but you actually need an SP to flash the cart. Do some research and you'll find the cart that's right for your situation.
madhatter667 #8 Posted October 18, 2006 The X-ROM is the one I was looking at. How many GBA ROMs can you cram on a 512 card? If I were to buy one, it would be the X-ROM, since it seems to have the best compatibility, and the most plug-n-play out of all of them (no ROM patching... not like I know how to do that anyhow). Thanks for the input!

Thanks for the input! It depends really. Early GBA games you can probably cram five - six I would imagine. Later GBA games take a lot more space. For example, Star Wars Lego takes at least half the cart! I find it hard to judge as I usually load my cart up with emulators. It's quick enough to reflash and change your line-up. What do you have? GB, GBA, GBM or DS?

madhatter667 #12 Posted October 18, 2006 I have old school (ie: dot matrix) GB, and a GBA-SP, and I am going to be buying a DS verrry soon.
Jess Ragan #13 Posted October 19, 2006 Yep, on a Game Boy Advance. I've used the Supercard on both the GBA and DS. JR

Jess Ragan #15 Posted October 19, 2006 Yeah, the SD card slot is built into the cartridge. It's pretty handy, really... you can fill one 512M card with homebrews, then another with MP3s, then swap between them as necessary. JR

I got a 2gb for my ds, put on the games that I own, put on MP3's, IRC, DSAIM, and others, including a wardriving program. Nothing like going somewhere and chatting on IRC on your DS, or chatting in the bathroom, or watch a movie on a bus... the possibilities are endless. madhatter667 #20 Posted October 19, 2006 If you do, would you sell your X-ROM and software for it? Anyone have a link for the Supercart?

So you enjoy your PSP now, eh?! (Eric DeLee checks the topic... ducks and runs for the exit. Fanboys follow in a fit of rage) (Seriously... um... a lot of things people buy for their DS is to make it do things a PSP already did straight from the box. It kill me to see a few people gripe about the extra things you had to buy for your PSP [memory stick] and yet they are doing the same thing now with their DS.) (Seriouslly... Im running away now. LOL Don't hurt me to bad by throwing those bricks at the back of my head!!!!)
Zonie #22 Posted November 21, 2006 (edited) I bought a q-boy flashcart in Taiwan. It is basically a 512M flash with a GBA clone that plugs into the USB port. You can play regular GBA carts or roms on the flashcart on the computer and use the clone as a controller or flash roms with it and play them on a regular GBA. I gave it to my son and he says it's great. I also found some multicarts in Malaysia that have several GBA games and several hundred emulated NES games on them. The bootleg pokemon games (Naranja, Chaos Black, quartz, friggos return, etc.) are also available on carts there. One of the carts has 320 games, 8 of them the original pokemon games all on one cart. they can be had for about $27 USD, maybe less if you haggle. I'm assuming the multicarts are just preloaded flashcarts. The card edge quality wasn't very good, but they work.
