zaxxonfan #1 Posted October 18, 2006 Tetris has got to be the most addicting NES game in my opinion. I've gotten over 100,000 couple times. Alwaying tring to get 4 blocks on level nine. What do you think is the most addicting NES game? I'd like to see Tetris in the high score competition.

madhatter667 #3 Posted October 18, 2006 Hmm... titles in my head: Super Mario Brothers (they just did a great job on this one) Dragon Warrior (gotta level up!) Pac-man (Duh!) More to come I am sure.

BassGuitari #5 Posted October 18, 2006 Gotta go with Tetris, followed by Galaga. I'm really digging Castlevania II right now, too.

bretthorror #10 Posted October 18, 2006 Super Mario Bros. I've played that game more than I've played any other game, never gets tiring. Castlevania is freakin' hard! I played it for 3 hours and only managed to get to stage 15!
madhatter667 #11 Posted October 18, 2006 "Castlevania is hard..." Totally agree, it was a rather difficult game (still is). But I still have a lot of fun playing it, and the whole Castlevania series in general. Adventure Island is another addicting one.

One thing about Adventure Island that made me mad is that Nintendo essentially took Wonder Boy from the SMS and put it on the NES but they wouldn't allow developers to make games for the SMS. So dirty. I actually prefer the controls on the SMS (can't get NES down for some reason), but like the look of the NES version.
madhatter667 #13 Posted October 18, 2006 Yeah, I know... I have the SMS game as a ROM, and I have the Wonder Boy ROM run on MAME... I loved that game when I was younger... they had it at a bowling alley where I played in the youth league. Been playing that game solid for oh... almost 18 years. I also have a PS2 remake, where the background has a 3D effect, and there are a few extras thrown in for difficulty. Still gotta get the actual game for the SMS (as that is one of many systems I am glad to have). Nintendo had/has some brutal business tactics. Can't change history. It was a damn good business move... it DID cut out the competition at the time. I think that if Nintendo didn't snap up most of the developers with exclusive contracts, the SMS could have really flown.

I think that if Nintendo didn't snap up most of the developers with exclusive contracts, the SMS could have really flown. I was lucky enough to get Wonder Boy included when I got my SMS on Ebay. I played it and thought it was ok. When Wii specs were announced and the outrageous price of VC games was released, I immediately dug out my old NES and put a new pin connector in it. In testing, I put in Adventure Island, which I had got in a lot used way back in the day and never played it, or at least I don't remember. Low and behold it was Wonder Boy and I just shook my head knowing the history between Nintendo and Sega at that time. My problem with the SMS, too much flicker. Way too much. Ghost Soldier #18 Posted October 18, 2006 I gotta go with Black Bass Super Mario Bros 3 Final Fantasy Dragon Warrior There are a few other games I could throw in there like bubble bobble or P.O.W. For me these are the most addicting games on any system I have
gdement #19 Posted October 18, 2006 Ultima: Exodus - first RPG I ever played. Maybe 6 months earlier, a friend had bought me a starter kit for Dungeons & Dragons. I thought it would make a cool video game, but didn't realize that had already been done. Then Ultima came out on the NES. So yeah, that was very addicting. Nowadays, I don't play NES very often, but the game I most often go back to is probably River City Ransom.
SomeGuyWithDSL #20 Posted October 18, 2006 (edited) Jackal. My grandfather had that game with the NES he bought for all the little grandkids to enjoy when we were at his house, and my cousins and I played it until we could beat it without dying ... almost without looking. Even today, I can replay the entire game (with sound) in my head. 2-player co-op was not all that common at the time, and we loved it. vdub_bobby #21 Posted October 18, 2006 Gotta go with Tetris - it isn't my favorite game on the system, not by a long shot, but when I play it I get sucked in like it's a black hole - I can't stop playing, I'll play hours a day and have dreams about fitting blocks together. Wierds me out a little, actually.
