edweird13 #1 Posted October 21, 2006 One of my sons left the game in his pants pocket and it go washed and dryed and it still works .
bretthorror #2 Posted October 22, 2006 My original Game Boy survived a battle with water, but it was badly damaged. I could still play it, but the screen is all shades of green and adjusts terribly. There's dead lines running through the screen and all. I am not sure if I threw it out or not as I got a GBC off ebay. No use getting a GBA when I have my snazzy DS Lite. shadow460 #3 Posted October 22, 2006 My Game Gear survived a bath of CD buffer fluid, and it survived the first Gulf War. Does that count?
edweird13 #4 Posted October 22, 2006 No. Going into battle doesn't qualify for this argument.

Oh, you are mistaken thats just how the screens on the original gameboys were. Seriously though Gameboy gameboy games are tanks. Almost as durable as 2600 carts. -T

Gameboy DMG carts and Atari 2600 games will be around till the end of time. Now if everybody made their games that durable.
Inky #7 Posted October 22, 2006 To ensure destroyed games, have children.. I have had destroyed... Mario Party 6 Animal Crossing (2 copies) The Sims (GCN -- 2 Copies) Sponge Bob, Battle for BIkini Bottom Super MOnkey Ball 2 (2 copies) And 2 weeks ago, they lost Brain Age and Big Brain Academy (DS). Still can't find them. They have also destroyed 3 GC controllers. The funny thing is that we keep the Nintendo stuff in places they can't get to, but htye always manage to get it. My atari stuff is kept closer at hand, and they never get at it.
Hounder #8 Posted October 22, 2006 Those old Gameboys are just bricks. I can't really vouch for the games themselves like others but man, the actual gameboy itself (the original) are just plain durable. I don't know how many times I've dropped that thing only to pick it back up and it work just fine. Yeah, it might look like crap with all the dings and dents in it, but by god, it still works just fine!
Guitardude #9 Posted October 22, 2006 My girlfriend once threw my camo Neo-Geo Pocket in a fit of rage and it surprisingly survived the onslaught. Luckily, it hit on the back of the NGP when it hit the wall and the floor.
shadow460 #10 Posted October 23, 2006 I bounced my first GameBoy classic off a steel floor several times. All I had to do was put the batteries back in, replace the door, and keep playing. I blew a power fuse in my Color Gameboy shortly after I got it. I fixed that easily, though. I think you can lump Game Boy Color carts in the durable category, too. Many of them use the same boards the DMG ones did. Game Gear carts are pretty tough, too, but the system isn't. Hmmm, let's see--the tough systems I've got are my Color GameBoy and My Nintendo 64. The rest of them look like a good hit would destroy the internals. The NES and the 7800 both have a cheap feel to them. I bet if one of them was dropped the case would break but the internals would be fine. Some other systems could be used for a baseball bat, then played right after the game. I bet a Game Boy Classic could even hit a couple of Nolan Ryan's pitches out of the park before it broke.

You couldn't destroy either of those if you threw 'em on top of a landmine. Well... I'll say that with the exception of my Kirby 2 cart. Somehow one of the chips died inside the cart. I still have the box, books, etc. Even the little plastic clear case that those old GB carts came in. I just need to get a replacement copy.
