8th lutz #1 Posted October 24, 2006 (edited) http://www.gamespot.com/news/6160347.html?...estnews;title;4 "This what happened during and after the bully case: As part of his efforts to halt sales of Bully, Thompson petitioned Miami Judge Ronald Friedman to view the game before it went on sale last week. However, when the judge approved the game for sale, Thompson became angry, accusing the judge of "smiling" as he approved the sale of a game that would inspire teenagers to commit acts of violence as extreme as murder. Now, it appears Thompson's sharp words to Judge Friedman may land him in hot legal water. According to the blog GamePolitics.com, lawyers for Rockstar Games parent Take-Two Interactive are asking that Thompson be held in contempt of court for his comments to Judge Friedman. " If Thompson goes to prision, it is not a shock. Who knows, he may end up with buba in jail. Edited October 24, 2006 by 8th lutz

xenomorpher #3 Posted October 24, 2006 Thompson needs to know when to shut up, give up, and how to start a life that doesn't involve being an evil nazi figure in the eyes of most gamers. I actually purchased Bully the other day, the version with the dodgeball. All in all its actually fun. You don't go grab an AK-47 and shoot up your biology class. Your weapons actually include a slingshot, firecrackers, and stink bombs. Theres a couple parts that are funny that made me laugh. I really like the mood of the whole game. Reminds me of a good National Lampoon movie.

madhatter667 #7 Posted October 24, 2006 I don't know if you can get a prison sentence for contempt. I don't know about the laws there, but in WA, it has to be at least a year and a day. Otherwise it's just county lockup (I have had some colorful friends, as well as being witness to some serious BS in the legal system). Not that I am agreeing with what this guy seems to do for a living mind you. Games ARE marketed towards ADULTS.... last time I checked something around 60% of the console market is over the age of 18. It isn't the developer/publisher's fault that parents assume that because it is a video game, it is meant for kids. Or that people just blindly assume that the medium is made for kids. Many current gen gamers are made up of earlier generation gamers... hence the whole 60% figure. People need to wise up, get a clue... and do some research on the topic (if you want to read a good article, go to www.pbs.org they have a section on debunking video game myths by an MIT professor). It's also worth mentioning that most video games have a fair amount of conservative elements to them. The gory, violent, or adult content games are the exception, not the rule (but they are typically fun!). Meh...rant done... I hope they nail this guy as hard as they can. Blackjack #9 Posted October 24, 2006 I seriously doubt he'll ever get jail time, but I wish he would. I'm soooo glad he lost the case at least. If he did go to jail, I'd like to see the "drop the soap" game made as a shockwave minigame! I'd buy it!

Atarifever #12 Posted October 24, 2006 (edited) I bet there are saner people in mental wards. Seriously, I can't imagine Jack in a mental ward. Patient: The spy bots are stealing my coco puffs! Down with Area 51! Fight the dragon win a hoop! Jack: Yeah! And all killers under the age of 21 killed people solely because videogames exist! Patient: Hey hold on there. What are you, crazy?
