kristian #1 Posted October 25, 2006 (edited) For people who aren't aware of PinMAME... it's the pinball machine emulator which emulates the ROMs of the real pinball machines. Visual Pinball is a simulator which makes playing the "real machine" possible. The program and the tables are 100% freeware. Since emulated Baby Pacman drew some interest here, I thought I'd shamelessly promote the Atari pinballs on VP here... since they might interest the Atari collectors. Here are the screenshots: All tables available here: http://www.vpforums.com/vptables/tables.php?ltr=all Forum: http://www.vpforums.com Airborne Avenger: Hercules: Middle Earth (picture perfect). Not available through AJ's downloads: Road Runner: Space Riders: Superman: The Atarians: Time 2000: Anything you want to know, just ask. Breakpack #2 Posted October 25, 2006 Think maybe someday PinMAME will come to XBox???
+remowilliams #3 Posted October 25, 2006 Wow! Those look really well done Think maybe someday PinMAME will come to XBox??? Don't count on it. You need a high res display for the tables to look good, and you need more processing grunt than the Xbox has for VPinball and PinMAME to be running. Vic George 2K3 #4 Posted October 25, 2006 Played the Superman pinball game on Visual Pinball, and its sound effects are identical to those of Williams' Defender.
kristian #5 Posted October 25, 2006 Played the Superman pinball game on Visual Pinball, and its sound effects are identical to those of Williams' Defender. You're most likely playing the VP-only version of Superman where the sounds are fabricated. I recall the original author didn't have access to the original Atari sounds when the initial version came out. Check the PinMAME version for accurate sounds. PS: "vp-only" means that the recreated table doesn't have any ROM emulation involved.
chadtower #6 Posted October 27, 2006 This year I assisted in a complete rebuild of a Superman. You know, for a game that gets a crappy rep, it's a pretty damn good early SS game. I've seen two on location in the last year, too... one in RI and one in NH.
NE146 #7 Posted October 27, 2006 Shouldn't the Hercules one have a bigger screen? j/k. Yeah I think I got all those on one of my computers with pinmame on it.. although I haven't updated it in about 8 months or something. I'll get to updating it eventually though as I always do.
