Metal Storm, Blaster Master, Crystalis, Guardian Legend, and Zanac stick out in my collection.

Oh, and Megaman *. Probably 2, 4, and 5 are the best.

And Ninja Gaiden.

...

I think I'm done now.

If you like sports games, you MUST try to get Tecmo Super Bowl. EVERYBODY who liked sports video games and had an NES played that game all the time in 1992. As a Philadelphia Eagles fan, there was nothing like an improvised running play with QB Eagles (aka Randall Cunningham)!

River City Ransom is also wicked, except it'll put you back $20 or so.

Funny... I bought that game on clearance for $20 about 15 years ago. So it hasn't depreciated since then, cool.

Another of my favorites that I don't think has been mentioned is Ultima: Exodus. If you enjoy classical style, hard RPG's where you make your own party members, and they can actually -die- then you may enjoy this game. I loved it, but it may have aged poorly depending on your perspective. Most annoying problem is that you need to cast an "Open" spell when opening chests, otherwise you'll constantly get hit with traps.

My top ten fave NES games :D

Super Mario Bros 1985.

Super Mario Bros 2 1988.

Super Mario Bros 3 1990.

The Legend of Zelda 1986.

Dragon Warrior 1989.

Final Fantasy 1990.

Metal Gear 1988.

Gradius 1986.

Castlevania 1987.

Ninja Gaiden 1984.

Sometimes I think Mario 2 (yes, I know, USA) looks better than 3. They certainly look that way in those screen shots I'm also glad 2 exists, because otherwise Mario and Luigi would probably still be palate swapped twins.
