+remowilliams #2 Posted October 27, 2006 (edited) Ready.... Set... Jaguar loonies - ATTACK!!! Below you can see the Atari Jaguar motherboard. Upon checking the cartridge slot I learned the main bus is only 32 bits wide. Sorry Atari, the gig is up. And the 5200 gets the smackdown! Sadly this is probably the last NEW Atari game console portable I can make, since the 7800 is filled with IC's and not very shrinkable. 5200's the same way (plus it's just an Atari 400 so who cares) Edited October 27, 2006 by remowilliams
ls650 #3 Posted October 27, 2006 Wow! That is freakin' incredible, though I have to say I don't care for his colour scheme. Silver? Burgundy?? It would look a lot better if it was solid black, I think. I wonder how much he'd want to build another...?
Gregory DG #4 Posted October 27, 2006 Nice. But it's too bad he didn't use a Pro-Controller instead.

Upon checking the cartridge slot I learned the main bus is only 32 bits wide. Sorry Atari, the gig is up. Well the only real problem with the statement is that its clearly stated in Atari Docs that the cartridge slot is 32bit, that was ALWAYS known, except to Mr Heck apparently. Meanwhile the main internal BUS is 64bit as stated, thats why you would tend not to run code from cartridge space. Atarifever #6 Posted October 27, 2006 I want one. Of course, I want all my systems turned into portables, so I guess that isn't surprising. He's a little hard on the poor old Jag though isn't he.
Ghost Soldier #7 Posted October 27, 2006 I was wondering when he was getting around to this.
+remowilliams #8 Posted October 27, 2006 I have to say that the other Jag portable that was on ebay recently was a much nicer looking unit.

bones #10 Posted October 27, 2006 Is that a Sony rechargable battery he's using? Run for cover!
JagChris #11 Posted October 27, 2006 Whatever you may think about the color scheme, the guy has got talent. That is not a bad setup at all.
+remowilliams #12 Posted October 27, 2006 Whatever you may think about the color scheme, the guy has got talent. That is not a bad setup at all. Oh, he's definitely got talent. I've got one of the 2600 Phoenixes
pmpddytim #13 Posted October 27, 2006 I don't know. Compared to some of his other recent offerings this one look phoned in. Its cool, but ugly as sin. -Tim
Lastblade #14 Posted October 28, 2006 I thought it was kinda ugly. I thought he had done a Jaguar before... and I remember that one looking alot better than this. But it is still cool to see a Jaguar portable. Maybe someday I will commission someone to make a better looking one
ls650 #15 Posted October 28, 2006 I think if it'd been done with solid jet black, maybe with a single bright red Jaguar logo, it'd look great.
Cheese007 #16 Posted October 28, 2006 It looks awesome, but it's so big that you could probably bludgeon someone to death with it.
JagChris #17 Posted October 28, 2006 He might want to think about if he could do something else a little with the shape and with the color scheme. But the guy still has talent.
Atari Dogs #18 Posted October 28, 2006 His Playstation One portable has the cd on the underside. I wonder if that would be possible to put the JagCD on the back and have both systems. Also, someone send Ben a picture of the ProController.
MegaManFan #20 Posted November 2, 2006 That's really stretching the definition of "portable" in my eyes but it's still pretty damn cool all the same.
Hyper_Eye #21 Posted November 3, 2006 It is huge. I don't mind the colors but it is so incredibly big. I don't think it qualifies as a "portable".
HP Atari King of Michigan #22 Posted November 3, 2006 Ben has done it again!!! I hope he considers doing a 5200 Portable or 7800 Portable in the future.
Albert #23 Posted November 3, 2006 Ben has done it again!!! I hope he considers doing a 5200 Portable or 7800 Portable in the future. He mentions that the 5200 and 7800 have too many ICs to be done very easily. They also have fairly large circuit boards that would be difficult to trim down in size. Especially the 5200, which has a huge circuit board. If you think this Jaguar portable is big, a 5200 portable would be about as large as the C64 luggable Commodore sold! ..Al
superjudge3 #24 Posted November 4, 2006 (edited) No offense, but that thing does not look very good. I think the original that the dude will build for you is way better. Edited November 4, 2006 by superjudge3
Atari Dogs #25 Posted November 4, 2006 Ben has done it again!!! I hope he considers doing a 5200 Portable or 7800 Portable in the future. I tried get Ben to make me 5200 protable. He said the board was just too big, and could not do it. If anyone is able to make one, I am first in line.
