Finally got a 360 (alt. topic title: "Oh Snap")

Recommended Posts

So, how you liking Ultimate Alliance?

So far, a friend and I have played the game together. Our team is Iron Man (me), Storm (him), Spidey, and Thor. Last night we beat Arcade, but only after restarting a few times. We kept on hitting bugs in the level, and it took us a while to figure out what we were supposed to do against the giant robot (not to mention how it likes to use the robot to obscure your view of the action).

That has been the only unfun level. I told my friend that they had accurately captured the feel of Murderworld stories in the comics, tedious and pointless. Other than that, everything has been a blast. Mandarin's house was probably the most fun so far.

My wife and i are playing through Ultimate Alliance, with a rotating team because i have a hard time sticking with one character. :) It's a blast so far, we beat Blackheart in Mephisto's realm but then got smoked with a seemingly endless supply of enemies after that, and couldn't figure out what to do.

I actually enjoyed Murderworld, but it would've been a lot more fun if she hadn't insisted on taking this damn bumper car she found through half the level...it moves so oddly that the camera just kept freaking out....luckily she drove it into one of those trap door pits in the death maze section. :D I had to disable her controller during that giant robot fight though, we literally could not see anything that was going on because of the camera. One player though, when i could control the camera, i figured out what to do right away.

Unfortunately, now that i've got Oblivion, i think she'll be spending a couple days getting reaquainted with her DS. But we'll get back to Ultimate Alliance soon enough. :D

I have 170+ hours in Oblivion. The only 360 game I have purchased since I got it is Prey and once I finished that it was right back to Oblivion.

And let's not forget a little bitty title called Gears of War coming out this week.

Speaking of which, I finally saw the

Very nicely done. Sends a far more powerful image compared to typical advertising for a game like this.

Have you guys seen the reviews of Gears Of War??

The ones I've seen are VERY good.

Based on what I've read the game isn't all hype. I was afraid GOW was going to be another Prey so I held off going first thing today and picking it up. Now I'm thinking I might have to reconsider.

I didn't really feel this was new topic-worthy, but still worth mentioning...i've already put in just over 30 hours on Oblivion. That's no joke. It figures out to something like 1/4 of the hours that have gone by since i've purchased the game. This is why i can never, EVER, be exposed to an MMORPG...i think it could get even worse than this. :)

Oblivion is pretty good, but odlly enough I'm not addicted to it. I've had the game maybe 3 months and have only logged 10-20 hours.

Anyway, as a far as Dead Rising and your TV in concerned, I personally wouldn't even think about buying a new tv to play that game, I hated it. I got DR on release day, figured it was gonna be as awesome as the demo, played it for a few hours, then got stuck in a loop of having to repeat the same thing over and over due the save system.

Plus I was just bored by the game, I'm sick of GTA clones and zombie shit.

Okay, I finally joined the current gen race by picking up a 360 the other day. It just seems like there is a lot I don't know about it. No one I know has one.

I know as far as customization, you can get/create alternate faceplates, but what else can you do?

This is probably a stupid question, but is there any way to transfer Xbox game saves to the Xbox 360?

What are the best downloads, currently? I figure to get Gauntlet and I've heard a lot of talk about Geometry Wars.

Anyway, I picked up Dead Rising, Gears of War, Marvel Ultimate Alliance and NBA 2K7. I haven't played Dead Rising or Gears of War, yet. I just haven't had enough time. Any other games I should keep in mind? Other than Oblivion, which I will likely pick up eventually.

Oh yeah! Can you import your own avatar?

You might want to check out customizing you dashboard, there are a bunch of free themes, there are some you can buy on the Market and you can design you own as well.

Also you can link your 360 with you PC (Windows XP) and play mp3s and movies saved on your hard drive. Cool for parties, if you haven't already...check out the Virtual Lightshow on the 360, written by the same guy who did the one for Atari Jaguar. VERY cool.

I dunno about old games saves, I have yet to play an original Xbox game in the 360. Too busy playing 360 games!

The Live arcade games are a matter of personal preference. Some of my favs are Smash TV, Feeding Frenzy, Jewel Quest, Bankshot Billiards 2, Astropop. You can try each and every game for free, so deciding shouldn't be a problem.

I would pick up Burnout , Quake 4 and Prey if you enjoy hooking up and playing with folks online. I imagine these games can be had cheap these days.

Condemned is a must play as well. I also enjoyed Kameo, That game looks amazing and is pretty fun in my opinion.

Congrats! Once you play around with it for awhile, you'll fall in love. Hopefully you have an HDTV to fully enjoy it.

My favorite XBLA titles are UNO, Doom & Gauntlet. Geometry Wars is cool, but very difficult, at least for me.

Rainbow 6 Vegas is really good, as is Viva Pinata. Lego Star Wars II is starting to fall in price & that is a blast.

Start digging into the achievements for each game. They add to the replay value immensely.

As for your avatar, I believe you can only choose from the gamer pictures you have by default & which ones you buy from XBL Marketplace.

Enjoy!

So, no way to transfer saves from an Xbox to the 360, huh? Anyone know for sure?

Other than that, it's great! I can't even get to the new games I got because I keep downloading trials of Live Arcade games!

No official sanctioned way that I know of. I believe there is a way involving third party card readers (or modded Xboxes) and stuff like the Datel Xsata interface and Xplorer 360. But I haven't actually bothered to try.
