Which do you prefer? Ghostbusters or Ghostbusters II

Recommended Posts

I just got Ghostbusters recently, and didn't want to get it before because of game reviews I seen, but i liked this game. Sometimes game critics reviews' opinions are different from our likings i guess. After playing both of them, I liked 2600 Ghostbusters II better than the original 2600 version. Which one do you prefer better?

Ghostbusters 1 definitely. I love the way you have to run the franchise. Ghostbusters II was a 2600 port of an Amiga/ST game, rather ambitious I think :)

Well, I've only played Ghostbusters on the Atari 8-bit and Ghostbusters II on the ST.

I love Ghostbusters but thought II was a bit rubbish.

I have only played both of them a few times, but I like Ghostbusters I better.

the opening part of 2600 gb 2 is so hard i've never gotten past it, so gb1 by a mile :-) funny thing is, 2600 gb1 is my fave version of that game across all platforms (including the c=64)

Hard to say. I actually deleted both of them from my Harmony. Right now probably none of them. The sequel seemed and played too beta for me. The first one - well: they did too many things wrong plus it is too downgraded compared to the original Commodore 64 version I played first in my life. By downgraded I mean they did not even bother to program proper menu system and overall did not care about the game engine how many sprites to display and so on. And that difficulty switch on my Jr. to start the game? No way man...

Ghostbusters I. A great game, and a miracle it was ported with all that complexity to the 2600.

Ghostbusters II on the other hand is rubbish imo.

Good to see some Ghostbusters love for a change! Had it when it came out for the C64 and played it quite a bit. Translated quite well to the 2600 and it's a game I still play from time to time. #2 was only available in PAL, so wasn't sold here. Gave it a quick try via an emulator long ago, but seemed like it was a bit of a mess. Didn't care for the movie as much either, so that's probably contributed to me not digging any deeper into it.
