Emulating difficulty switches for Atari 7800?

I've heard that at least one Atari 7800 game uses the difficulty switches (not to mention Xevious uses them to toggle one or two button controls.) Unfortunately, MESS doesn't seem to emulate them, and ProSystem only emulates having it switched off if you hold the key down.

 

Are there any emulators that properly emulate the difficulty switches for the Atari 7800?

I'm pretty sure MESS does (unless it got broken in a recent release).

Hmmm, I'll have to check. At any rate, do you know if it's true that adjusting the difficulty switches on the console will allow you to play two button mode (one button fires other drops bombs) in Xevious?
