Thelen #1 Posted November 17, 2006 (edited) I was having some problems with my mega ste, i wanted to play a CD (d-bug 30a) on the mega ste, but it doesn't start the disk (excuse to ppera, your floppy image program does work OUTSTANDING !!! ) And when i put the same disk in my 1040STf, it boots, and works properly ! How can i get this disk to work in my mega ste ? Thanks ! Edited November 17, 2006 by Thelen
ggn #2 Posted November 19, 2006 Hmmm, maybe your drive is faulty? Or the disk? Did you try writing the image to another disk? Is anything happening when you switch on the mste with the disk on? Is the bootsector displayed? Do you hear strange noises from the drive? Hope any of these helps, please report with some more info
Thelen #3 Posted November 19, 2006 Thanks for your reaction ! the disk is working in a standart 1040 ST, and thesame disk doesn't work in my mega ste....when i switch the mega on, the floppy drive beebs one time, and then boots from HD. there's nothing wrong with the floppy drive, it can read 720Kb disks perfect.... it only won't boot it... hope to get some help ! Again I must stress that if a disk works on one floppy drive doesn't prove that it will work on the other. Please do the following: a) Try writing the disk image to another disk and boot that from your mste. b) If (a) still doesn't do anything then let the mste boot from HD and then open the A drive. Does the directory show up? Go to the AUTO folder (if there isn't one then there's trouble!) and execute the menu program. Lastly, tell us what happened George Edited November 20, 2006 by ggn
Thelen #5 Posted November 20, 2006 Thanks ! i've tried it, but it still won't boot ..... when i open the A disk, the auto folder apears, and inside it is the file DBUG_30A.PRG. when I start it it will load the menu. All disks I make are Booting with my st, but my mSTE won't boot from any disk.....
Gunstar #6 Posted November 20, 2006 The Mega STE always boots from the HD and not the floppy. If you want to autoboot a floppy disk, you have to push the [Alternate] key at boot-up.
ggn #7 Posted November 20, 2006 Ooops, I neglected the fact that the atari will boot from hd if it finds one So you need to force your comoputer to boot from floppy instead. It usually is a combination of ctrl, alt and shift. Which hard driver do you use? I know for sure that for HD Driver you need to hold Alt and press A at the correct time to do that. Timing is crucial but you'll get it in the end
Gunstar #8 Posted November 20, 2006 (edited) timing is crucial, but ONLY the ALT key is needed to be pressed, NO other key is needed, EVER. I do it by just continually tapping the ALT key at bootup. Edited November 20, 2006 by Gunstar
