Image converter

Does anyone know if there is a utility (either PC or Mac) that can convert a jpeg, tiff, png, etc into an image format that can be loaded into an A8?

Well,

depends on what you mean by "convert into an image that can be loaded into an A8"...

- JPG: there are two viewers/converters by Raphael Espino for the A8: a) greyscale converter, it will convert *.JPG pictures into various greyscale formats (including Gr.8, Gr.9, HIP, etc.); it can also save them into 62 sector (micropainter) or 129 sector (HIP) format; b) color-viewer: will view/display *.JPG in 3 different formats: Gr.11+Gr.8 (320x200 with 16 colors in 2 lum.), Gr. 11+gr.15 (160x200 with 16 colors in 4 lum.) and Gr.11+Gr.9 (80x200 with 16 colors in 16 lum.), alas it does not save these pict., thus it is only a viewer...

*.TIF: the only converter for the A8 I know converts a TIF pict. with a resolution of 160x192 pixels intro Gr. 15...

*.GIF: there are various *.GIF converters for the A8 like Apacview, Jview by Jeff Potter, A8 View 1.x and 2.x, plus other converters in ABBUC magazine (for gr.8, gr.9, gr. 9+11/Apac, gr.15, R,G,B and RGB)

*.BMP: there are various *.BMP converters for the A8, that convert BMP into gr.8, some can be found on the Antic disks, some in PD libraries

*.PNG: have not seen any converter for the A8 yet...

*.PCX: have not seen any converter for the A8 yet...

Just google around a bit or search in the various A8 PD libraries. Greetings, Andreas Magenheimer.
