SomeGuyWithDSL #1 Posted November 27, 2006 Saw this at Toys R Us on Friday, didn't see any topics about it here. Not much to speak of, here's the website: PlayGameWave.com. It's a progressive-scan DVD player with additional custom hardware, such as save RAM, currently featuring a lineup of trivia, puzzle, card and other casual games. Includes IR remotes for 4 players, with support for up to 6 total. Every game I saw looks like DVD Video technology, lots of video and audio clips and menu-style control, with the exception of Gemz, which seems to be a Bejeweled-alike. It's like a Nuon, minus the 3D hardware, game controller and Tempest. Sure to be a hit I am anxious to find out, though, if there's any encryption on the programs, or if this thing will be running homebrew before it's all said and done. EmOneGarand #3 Posted December 18, 2006 I'd check it out I love obscure gaming hardware. Besided, if it's like Buzztime (which I can't find anymore ) it might be fun with some friends.
SomeGuyWithDSL #4 Posted May 10, 2007 Game Wave now $19.99 + free "game" at TRU for anyone interested in picking one up for posterity.
candiru #5 Posted May 10, 2007 Game Wave now $19.99 + free "game" at TRU for anyone interested in picking one up for posterity. Thanks for the heads-up. I might pick one up at that price. That's really not a bad deal at all considering it's also a DVD player.
Gabriel #6 Posted May 10, 2007 Thanks for the heads up. I think I'll swing by TRU this evening. I'd like a cheap DVD player to take the wear and tear off my 360, and being an obscure game system is icing on the cake.

AtariJr #10 Posted May 10, 2007 what games do they have for the system? anyone have a list? also is it being discontinued? shoudl i got run out and get it now or do i have time?
Video #11 Posted May 11, 2007 Well, first, is this actually got anything in it besides a DVD player? I mean, the games look like typical DVD compat games, as in any DVD player may play them. The only thing is, this has the four remots (quadruple the ammount to loose in the long run ) so...yeah. I just fidn it unlikely that it poped up, and got discounted that quickly is all, hell, I still see places selling the hyperscan for full price. Gabriel #12 Posted May 11, 2007 Oh well, no systems at the local TRU. There were only a few $20 "games."
Student Driver #13 Posted May 12, 2007 Where in a TRU would these be located? I went to one months ago to look at the system and never found them; I just went by a couple of them, and they didn't have them in the video-game section, and the clerks hadn't heard of them. I did find an over-priced "clearance" Xavix Tennis game for the XavixPort... haven't seen a Xavix game in ages.
MegaManFan #14 Posted May 13, 2007 For $20 I'd buy one out of curiosity for a laugh, but I've never seen them at a TRU anywhere.
Video #15 Posted May 13, 2007 When it was new, it was probably sold with Movies and such, if the people knew what they were selling, it might have ended up in the games section. This thing was about a year old, I think though, so if your local TRU still has one, it would probably be in the clearance section, or sometimes they move this crap out to the vestible (if your local store has one, most the ones I go to do)
