Curt Vendel #1 Posted November 28, 2006 Just brought to my attention by my friend Bruce over at www.myatari.com - The Dallas Semiconductor clock chips in the Falcon030's are reaching their end of life cycle and the battery that is epoxy encased within the 24pin DIP clock chips are dying off. Bruce has ordered a large quantity of fresh replacement chips which should have a life cycle of another 10-12 years, so if your clock is saying its 1980 everytime you boot up, your clock chip battery has died, contact Bruce over at B&C for a replacement. +DarkLord #5 Posted November 29, 2006 Yep and PITA to replace too, been putting it off in one of mine. I sent mine to Alex Yu at ATY Computers and had him socket it. I bought a replacement and one spare. Next time I have to replace it, I'll be able to do it myself. PS Charged me approx. $40.
+Sauron #6 Posted November 29, 2006 Thanks for the heads-up, Curt! The battery in my Falcon seems to be fine still, but it's good to know that it might crap out any day now.

tjlazer #8 Posted December 5, 2006 @DarkLord When did you send it to him? Might be a good option.
+DarkLord #9 Posted December 5, 2006 Is ATY still in business? I wish he would update his website. Absolutely he is still in business. I've gotten him to do several odd jobs for me. First rate work too.
+DarkLord #10 Posted December 5, 2006 @DarkLord When did you send it to him? Might be a good option. Just about 2-3 weeks ago. He is very much alive and kicking as far as Atari repair and service goes. Grab his email from his website, send him a description of what you want done, and he will give you an estimate as to costs. Well heck, here it all is: http://www.atycomputer.com/ [email protected]

Well heck, here it all is: http://www.atycomputer.com/ [email protected] Well that explains it. I still had the old website address. http://www.virtual-markets.net/vme/aty/ No wonder I thought he was out of business. The new site(at least to me) looks much better but still has the same information with the exception of the links. He should still update his website on what he carries. Like B&C and Best does. I probably would have bought things if I know what he has to begin with. Thanks
