godzillajoe #1 Posted November 28, 2006 One of the reasons I will play a game I don't normally play is by checking the various High Score Club posts and trying to beat the score there. Is there any place where 2600 high scores are tracked? I keep mine in a spreadsheet like a good dork. Just curious if anyone does the same. I'd certainly like to START keeping track of high scores if no one else does it. Sorta gives you a reason to try a game and actually learn it enough to get good at it. Because let's face it, some games really suck initially but when you learn the idosyncracies and get to the advanced levels, they become quite enjoyable
Recycled #2 Posted November 28, 2006 I keep all my high scores in a dedicated notebook. I'm always trying to top my best. It's getting well worn with my constant flipping through it. I definitely belong to the geek club.

godzillajoe #4 Posted November 28, 2006 I didn't realize they kept scores for everything, thought it was just the games they held tournaments for. I gotta hook up my video camera and beat that Dig Dug score.
SeaGtGruff #5 Posted November 28, 2006 Is there any place where 2600 high scores are tracked? I keep mine in a spreadsheet like a good dork. Just curious if anyone does the same. I used to keep track of my high scores on index cards (this was *way* back when, long before I even got a VIC-20 computer), but somewhere along the line I gave up on it. These days I'm only interested in my scores for a couple of games-- like Millipede, for one. I swear, I think I got a score of 820,000 or thereabouts one night last year, on my then-new Flashback 2, but I didn't have a camera handy and I wasn't keeping track of my scores at that time, so I can't be sure. A few months ago, Millipede was featured in the 2600 High Score Club, and after that week was up I kept playing, and have taken screenshots or digital pictures to verify my scores-- although after the last play session I had (when I posted my last high score), I played so long and so hard that my left thumb was numb for over a week, so now I'm afraid to turn my Flashback 2 back on. Christophero Sly #6 Posted November 29, 2006 I didn't realize they kept scores for everything, thought it was just the games they held tournaments for. I gotta hook up my video camera and beat that Dig Dug score. I think they'll also accept submissions recorded from the TV directly to videotape through a VCR. Good luck! I too might begin submitting my scores to TG now that they've finally split emulator and console scores.

Cybergoth #8 Posted November 29, 2006 Good luck! I too might begin submitting my scores to TG now that they've finally split emulator and console scores. It's still in the works, they're still busy sorting out the scores.
Zoyx #9 Posted November 29, 2006 Here are my high scores from back in the day...attached... Fun thing just happened. I fire up Turmoil, and beat my teenage high score first try (I'm 42 now). Must be all those first person shooters I have been playing on PCs improving my skills. Nothing like a bit of cross-training.
D.Yancey #10 Posted November 29, 2006 I've got a few high scores subbmitted to twin galaxies. All of mine were done on real hardware too. I just had to record to VHS tape by hooking up my Atari to the input on the VCR and the VCR output to the TV. You have to record the whole game, not just the score at the end. If you want to see some of my scores, just click on the link in my signature.

Zoyx #16 Posted November 30, 2006 Another piece of nostalgia that I uncovered. My Pitfall 2 "map"... attached. I made this map when the game first came out, so it must date back to 1984. I managed to get a perfect score for Pitfall 2, but only once.

jboypacman #18 Posted November 30, 2006 I know we have the HSC here and Twin Galaxies does it high scoring thing too. But,wouldnt it be cool if AtariAge had some sort of High Score data base for its members to post there scores of there favorite games.Sort of like Blog but just with game scores and you could check on other members scores and compare them to yours. But unless you posted pics of you playing the game it would have to be a honest thing. My score would so low i would be embrassed to post them.lol. Dan Iacovelli #19 Posted November 30, 2006 back in the early Days of AVC we used to keep track of high scores but that has ended for now, I'm hoping to get going again next year when the newsletter goes through some changes. I can't say what changes because I'm still working on them
jpfalcon2003 #20 Posted December 1, 2006 I keep all my high scores in a dedicated notebook. I'm always trying to top my best. It's getting well worn with my constant flipping through it. I definitely belong to the geek club. I used to have a notebook with high scores for my games that i started in 1989, but can't find the notebook anymore with the high scores. It most likely had gotten thrown away when I put my 7800 in the closet in 1994. I'm sure my parents were responsible. Probably will start another list again. Have 130 more games now anyway. Zoyx #22 Posted December 1, 2006 For those that have nifty spreadsheets for their high scores, is it possible to make a template available for the rest of us folks to download? I use openoffice for my spreadsheet software, which is Excel compatible.

They are allowing DVD recordings, but they say to check with the platform referee for each system just to make sure. Todd Rogers is the 2600 ref. I can't speak for him, but I believe he would like DVD's as long as the individual games have their own track. That would save him tons of time!
