joeybastard #1 Posted December 1, 2006 What happened to Man Goes Down? Any chance it will be in the AA Store this holiday season? I really liked it in emulation but I want it on cart.
+Nathan Strum #2 Posted December 1, 2006 The programmer has had some health issues to overcome. As far as I know, it's not being released yet. At least I haven't been asked to finish up the manual yet, and the most recent build of the game I've seen is still unfinished.
Albert #3 Posted December 1, 2006 I haven't heard from Alex Herbert in some time now, so I'm not sure when the game will be completed and released. It definitely will not be in December. I have been using it to test new AtariVox units though. ..Al
Big Player #4 Posted December 2, 2006 I've wanted this game on a cart for at least two years now. The unfinished ROM that has been posted is a blast to play and completely addictive. It could be the best 2600 homebrew in terms of gameplay. I hope Alex's health is okay. I wonder if another programmer could finish the game? Other than adding more levels, what more could be done? That all being said, I would buy the latest build of the game if it were put on a cart.
Rob Mitchell #5 Posted December 2, 2006 I wonder if another programmer could finish the game? No. Alex Herbert is the programmer of this game and we wish him well! Rob Mitchell
Richard H. #6 Posted December 2, 2006 Last I heard from Alex was that he was recovering well from the brain haemorrhage, but an unrelated back problem was preventing him sitting at the computer for any length of time. I really miss his coding, especially the last Vec game he was working on. It was similar to Encounter for the C64, and it looked VERY good.
Foxsolo2000 #7 Posted December 2, 2006 Wasn't this offered in the Atari Age store? Guess it wasn't
sandmountainslim #8 Posted December 2, 2006 Sounds like a great game but I don't really care for the title, a little too "Bruce luvs Gary" for me. I would call it something else like "Falling Feller" WP
Big Player #9 Posted December 2, 2006 I wonder if another programmer could finish the game? No. Alex Herbert is the programmer of this game and we wish him well! Rob Mitchell You're right. I was being impatient. It has been at least two years since the first version was released but we have waited a lot longer for other hombrews. My fear is that this game will never get finished. joeybastard #10 Posted December 4, 2006 Wow, I didn't know he was ill. I thought maybe it just fell thru the cracks and was never finished up. I hope he recovers soon. MGD is probably my favorite homebrew in emulation. It's the most addictive game on the VCS after Kaboom in my book.
Jess Ragan #11 Posted December 4, 2006 Aw, geez! I hope he gets better soon. JR

joeybastard #14 Posted December 6, 2006 (edited) what type of game is MGD.....fill me in on the gameplay and mechanics......i saw the label that was made and it was awesome Well, HERE'S the discussion in the forums about it to start with. Basically you have to fall from platform to platform and can grab items as you go. It sounds so simple but it's a GREAT game. It's got great animation and is ridiculously addictive. There's a rom in that thread I posted so you can try it in an emulator. The newest version is on page 10. And even though I didn't win the contest, that was my favorite label I created. Atarifever #17 Posted December 7, 2006 And it supports the AtariVox as well, nice sounds Yes, it has great support for the AtariVox. ..Al Is it likely that most homebrew games will start supporting Atarivox, at least as a way to save high scores? I'm getting one anyway as soon as possible, but it'd be sweet if it were an easy feature to implement that most homebrews came with as a matter of course. Uzumaki #18 Posted December 7, 2006 There's also Save Key for saving game data. Both AtariVox and Save Key can be used interchangeably as far as saved game data goes. But AtariVox also have enhanced audio support while Save Key is limited to saving game data.

PressureCooker2600 #20 Posted December 10, 2006 it would be lovely if eventually the Atarivox would be able to save high scores on every atari game.....thats the one feature i always missed having......i hated running around to grab a damn pencil to write down my score before it disappeared

Albert #22 Posted December 10, 2006 But AtariVox also have enhanced audio support It can sing too Ooh - is that part of this year's xmas cart? No, unfortunately there's not really enough room left over in this year's cart to add AtariVox support.. It was discussed briefly, though. ..Al
