8th lutz #1 Posted December 1, 2006 (edited) http://www.gamespot.com/news/6162585.html The state of Michigan has to pay over 180,000 to a trio of industry trade groups to reimburse them for the cost of having a contested law overturned. This also brings up the amount of legal fees states have been ordered to cough up in such cases over the $1.5 million mark. However, not every state has paid up. Illinois was ordered to pay more than $500,000 after its law was overturned (the ESA sought more than $644,000), but the state has yet to deliver the funds, saying it is "actively trying to identify the proper funding source and appropriation for the award amount." Michigan better pay up. I know that the taxpayers will be pissed tough. They should elect people who are more concerned about education, and other things like making sure bussiness stay in the state. Uzumaki #7 Posted December 2, 2006 Maybe we all should move out of the state so we don't have to pay those extra taxes to cover that lawsuit? I mean about half of the people on this forum are probably from Michigan.
Jess Ragan #8 Posted December 2, 2006 I always wondered why so many gamers hailed from Michigan. Then I realized that there wasn't anything else to do in the state. You can either twiddle your thumbs, or do it while holding a game controller. JR

Wester #11 Posted December 3, 2006 (edited) Beside the thirft shops and flea markets in Michigan have been picked cleaner than a cow's skeleton after a school of piranha have a go at the feast. Went hunting out of my normal area today since we were X-Mas shopping. Hit two thrifts with no luck, then hit a pawn shop that had a buttload of games for NES, SNES, Genny, Dreamcast, and a few others here and there, also had Gennys, PS1's, and a Dreamcast for $25 each, Snes for $35 and a Gamecube for $50. I didn't get anything because the games were way overpriced and had the prices marked on them in sharpie on the grey carts and silver marker on the black ones(including some Tengen NES carts). Game prices ranged from $5-$15 each. Too bad about that thrift by you Tempest, hope nobody was hurt and it wasn't a special hunting ground for you. I don't think anyone was hurt, but they did shutdown Telegraph which really screwed up my trip home that night (not to mention there was a huge blackout in the area at the same time). I only went there once (it was a St. Vincent thrift), and it was really nice but didn't have any gaming stuff. Personally I'd like to see the giant blob that was formed when the 1000's of records they had melted... Tempest
Bill Brasky #13 Posted December 3, 2006 Maybe Granholm can have a can/bottle drive to raise funds to pay the legal fees.

Uzumaki #15 Posted December 4, 2006 Why not? Lots of cars made in Michigan, might as well send someone with car sounding names to deal with it.
