IRC chat tonight (Thursday)

Hey everyone - don't forget about the weekly Atari chat tonight. Official gathering time is 8:00pm CST, and you have 3 options for getting in:

 

- Use your favorite IRC client to connect to irc.newnet.net and join channel #atari.

 

- Telnet from your 8-bit or other machine to irc.atarichat.net (216.37.55.109) and login as "atari". This will get you into the chat without the need for an actual IRC client.

 

- Use the Java applet found at http://www.newnet.net.

 

If you can't make it around 8:00 tonight, or if you would like to stop in other times, feel free to drop in anytime. There are generally a few lurkers hanging around, so you may catch some good coversation at any random visit.

just so you know,if you use the java room type /join #atari to enter the chat room

and to change your nickname(because you we be known as java user)

type /nick "then you nickname"

if you join the chat like I do via the java room, you nickname will be javauser,if you want it to be lynxguy

the you have to do /nick lynxguy

How in the h*ll do you get out of /help?

 

I tried QUIT,BYE,and EXIT but could not get back to the discussion line.

 

I don't want to annoy other users,is there a text file somewhere I can read to learn

 

the commands and protocols?

There are several different servers on that particular network. I can give you a list and port numbers if you want. But if I remember correctly, you use the java applet... so I don't know how that would work.

thats ok, one of these days I will reinstall trillian so I can connect via irc intead of of using the chat room.

I forgot about the telnet to the irc channel I could have done that as well
