spookt
Commodore 1084S Monitor. And yes: I went over my bid ceiling by £1.97 in the last three seconds of the auction. I hope it was worth it... Ah you won that, darn you
flashjazzcat
Ah you won that, darn you I thought I was the last of the late breakers, but you outbid me with about ten seconds to go. Quite how I got that last manual bid in, I'll never know!

+Guitarman
OK!!! Here are the pics. 1040STe, boxed in plastic, as new condition with extras. Badge plastic is still in place. The chip tubes have the old TOS chips in them. They're labeled TOS 1.2 Has 4 4mb simms installed. Don't know why because the system is only able to recognize 4mb total. I will be testing this one with one of my MegaFile 30 drives. The Grand Find!! TT030, boxed, plastic in box but not around the parts. They will go in the plastic when I repack it!! A little dusty but will clean up to almost new condition. Has 2mb ST ram and 4mb TT ram. Will have to get another 14mb TT board for this one and expand the ST ram. When I booted it and tried to enter the time and date, the keyboard was typing the wrong characters. I looked in the auto folder and found a dvorak keyboard program. Luckily, I found a qwerty program to remap the keyboard and disabled the auto start dvorak program. Here's a picture of the TT with its matching monitor from the Atari lot I got a few days ago, and a couple with it running on a 22" wide-screen flat-panel. I need to get the right cable for the TT195 monitor before I can test it. It has been a good couple of 'Atari' weeks around here!!!!! atariksi
Ok. Here are some better shots of my latest recycler find. This stuff is in pristine condition. There is no yellowing or dust anywhere on this stuff. It was like unpacking it for the first time. ... I also got these on our last San Jose trip from ApolloBoy. 1200XL, XEGS, 800 w/cover ... The last I talked to ApolloBoy, he was still into Atari 8-bit stuff. Did you trade him for an Atari 2600 heavy sixer with Glib cart?

No, we did a trade + purchase. I gave him some $$ and an 800XL w/ Rambo 256K upgrade, since my favorite is the 1200XL. Also getting ready to sell him a 130XE. Just gotta find my bloody test hardware!!!!
flashjazzcat
1084S arrived this morning. It was filthy but cleaned up well: It's the 1084S-P type so sadly won't fit into an appropriate Atari casing if one ever came along. The connector panel has a blanking plate for a SCART socket and the PCB has appropriate pads for one: I was wondering if fitting a scart socket is as simple as just soldering one in? In any case, I need to make up a DIN-5 to luma/chroma cable and a DIN-13 to DIN-6 (RGB) to really test this thing out. I've only tried it with a stock 65XE via composite video so far and I already LOVE it. It just feels so right! The only cosmetic problem is that the front panel cover was missing. I'd be interested in any spare ones... EDIT: Just read up on the SCART mod: it's certainly possible, but involves a fair bit of work. Rybags
At least yours has the sensible power switch location. Mine's got it on the back, right pain in the arse.
flashjazzcat
No DIN-6 in the post today unfortunately (which I need to test VBXE), so I've just made up a chroma/luma/audio cable. Puzzlingly, my VBXE/s-video 130XE shows no artifacts with this monitor, even through the s-video circuit is stock. The "Ultravideo" machines (which have had the composite video circuit removed) and another stock 65XE with the modulator intact all show artifacts. Baffling. Best picture of all is from the VBXE machine's s-video out! The monitor's styling matches the 800/600XL well. If VBXE output is good, it would be tempting to transplant the VBXE from the 130XE into the 600XL. I'd love to know where the artifacts are coming from on the 800XL. Divya16
I bought an Atari 800 but the key for number 7 is missing although the plastic is present and does work if you press it. Any good ideas of where to find an equivalent?

Can you send me a pic of the keyboard so I can see if it is the same?? orpheuswaking: I'll have to look. I have one for one of my MegaFile30 drives but don't know if I have another. Also, I may now have the second 'Great' find in the works. Someone called the computer recycler today and said they have a Falcon030 that they want to donate but wanted to see if it goes to a museum. He doesn't want it scrapped. He was told no, but they know of somebody that will give it a good home. I have his contact info and have a call into him. We'll see how it pans out. +Guitarman
Well, the Falcon030 deal went through. $50.00. Will be picking it up Friday. The owner said it has an accelerator of some sort installed and a 14mb ram card installed. It has an issue with the HDD, he has to start it a few times before the drive will respond. Easy fix. He is also including all Atari related stuff he has including a couple of Supra drives, lots of music and sequencing software and hardware, a 1040STe and a couple of monitors. Pics coming this weekend.

It's a square plastic w/o spring. I know there's some people selling single keys for old Toshiba laptops but no such thing for Atari 800 keyboards. Yep, I'm still very much into the A8, I just wanted to switch around my setup because my 800 and 1200XL were taking up so much space (and I was strapped for cash). Plus, I was beginning to get tired of the XEGS, so I thought I'd switch my setup to an 800XL with a 130XE as a backup system. I've been buying/trading A8 carts like crazy, too.
